BRITONS HAIL ! NEW ERA WITH DAWES ON JOB Conference on Sunday With MacDonald Expected to Be Highly Important. BY WEBB MILLLER I nit*d Prew Staff Corrfipondent LONDON, June 14.—A new era in Anglo-American relations will begin with a conference Sunday between Charles G. Dawes, the new American ambassador td Great Britain, and Ramsay MacDonald the new British prime minister. The meeting between the leader of one great English-speaking nation and the representative of another across the seas will be the first step in the direct, personal method by which MacDonald apparently intends to cement the friendship be- , tween Great Britain and the United States preliminary to his plans for j world peace. Reaches England Tonight Tile second step will be the prospective conference between MacDonald and President Herbert Hoover in Washington, where the British prime minister may go late this summer for private discussions on disarmament. A warm welcome for Dawes was predicted by the British press today, and promised by MacDonald. The new ambassador's reputation for r etting things done and the part he played in the first, or Dawes plan reparations settlement were emphasized. was a general expression that if he sustains his reputation he will be the most successful American ambassador at London in many yea rs. Maps Busy Schedule Dawes already has mapped out for himself a schedule in keeping , with the British opinion on his vitality and directions. By special permission of King George, he will be allowed to present his credentials Saturday at Windsor | castle, and the next day he wiil t speed northward to Scotland for his j four-hour afternoon conference with j the prime minister. Tuesday night he will be the honor guest and j speaker at a Pilgrim Society dinner. CITY BAPTIST PASTORS AT DENVER CONCLAVE Seven Ministers Will Take Tart in Church Parleys. Seven Baptist ministers from Indianapolis are attending the Northern Baptist convention which opens in Denver today, after a Modern-ist-Fundamentalist battle which replaced Bishop Francis J. McConnell with Dr. Avery A. Shaw of Dennison university, Granville, O. The Indianapolis ministers, it is said, were divided in their attitude toward McConnell. ' The Rev. Frederick E.
