Aviation KOEHL PLANS REFUELING ON OCEAN FLIGHT German Captain to Seek Cash for Experiment This Year. BY MAL'RITZ HALLGREN Cnited l’rf<> Mtt Correspondent BERLI.'n . Juno 12. —Captain HerMann Koehl, co-pilot of the Bremen ! on the first successful trans-At-lanuc flight from east to west, Is contemplating another flight to New York, during which refueling in the air may be tried, he told the United Press today. The flight would begin in Berlin and the fuel supply would be replenished from another plane, first near the westernmost point of Europe and next over the Azores. Whether the flight actuaiiy will be attempted depends in large measI iye on the amount of financial support Captain Koehl obtains, he explained. but he added that he had been working on navigation instruments which would increase the safety ol long distance flight immensely. "I hope to be able to use a threemotor seaplane, which, however, would be too heavy to permit carrying a full load of fuel.” Captain Koehl said, "and therefore I shall carry a light load of gasoline and refuel the plane from the air.” Referring to his work on navigation instruments since the Bremen’s flight. Captain Koehl said their improvement was imperative, to in- j crease the safety of long distance | ight. The work that he and other j aviators have done along that line i has persuaded him that the prob- ; lem or flying through fog has been, solved, he said. ••With the instruments, one can fly through darkness and fog I wholly with the aid of charts and j the new instrument#,” Captain Koehl said. ‘ They also will make landings much safer.” Captain Kohel and Colonel James ; Fitzmaurice piloted the Bremen from Baldonnel airport, Ireland, to Greenley island last year, on the first successful westward crossing. The late Baron Gunther von Huenefeld owner of the plane and backer of the flight, w’as a passenger. Cook Hops to Anderson H. Weir Cook. Curtiss Flying Service of Indiana general manager, flew to Anderson and return Tuesday on a business trip in a Curtiss Robin monoplane.
HAD 15 YEAR? OF STOMACH AGONY With it. Had Kidney Trouble and Back-Ache. Recovers Health. After years of torture from stomach and kidney trouble. Mr. John F. Bott. 625 Chestnut St.. Freeport, 111., suddenly shook off all his ailments and recovered his health. His letter explains it, as follows: •‘For 15 years. I had stomach trouble and kidney weakness. After eaiing, I would bloat with gas and suffer intense pain, followed by sick head-ache. My kidney trouble disturbed my sleep, and my back ached so terribly I could hardly drag myself home from work, and I was ready to drop the minute I got inside the door. I couldn't sleep, and all day long I felt weak, dizzy, and lazy. Medicines seemed unable to help me, and life was nothing but misery to me until I started taking Viuna. In short order. I was a changed man. I can now eat big, hearty meals with no gas, no pains, and no head-ache. My kidneys seem to be fine again, and I wake up every morning feeling rested and ready for work. The awful back-ache is gone, and I can now enjoy walking to and from the shop. I feel stronger and better each day. and it is wonderful to know that my long illness is over at last.” There must be something different, something truly wonderful about a medicine which has promptly ended so many severe cases of back-ache, stomach trouble, kidney pains and rheumatism. Air Schools Inspected \ H'j 1 imrx Special | WASHINGTON, June 12. The I commerce department's aeronautics branch has started its rating of civilian flying schools. They will be inspected, passed on, and rated as fast as they apply. Under an act passed by the last congress, the department is authorized to rate flying schools in various classes, depending upon equipment, instructors, and teaching method. The new regulations were designed to help protective flying students pick training schools best suited to their needs, and to give greater safety to aviation by eliminating the flv-by-night and “shyster” schools. STATE TO BUY TIRES Bids for SIOO,OOO Supply Due June 25. Bids for the year’s supply of tires for the state highway department will be received June 25, it was announced today by Director John J. Brown. The tire supply totals approximately SIOO,OOO and deliveries are to be made at any part of the state designated by the department. The tire contract was one criticised by former Director John D. Williams, when the commission ousted him. He charged that Jess L. Murden (Rep.) Peru, was formerly connected with the General Tire Company and wanted to give that company the advantage of a “secret contract,” eliminating possibility of fair competition. Like other Williams’ charges, this remained unanswered.

FEAR REVIVAL OF TONG WAR Washington Chinese Found, Probably Fatally Shot. Bu United Preen WASHINGTON, June 12.—Possible evidence of a renewal of tong warfare faced police today with the finding of a young Chinese, believed to be Lee King, perhaps fatally shot, shortly after midnight. Investigation of the shooting led police to believe typical gang instead of the usual tong methods of warfare had been used. The victim evidently had been taken for a ride. The young Chinese was seen early in the evening, it developed, by a number of persons as he rode with two of his countrymen in a rented automobile. The car was found abandoned a short distance from the scene of the shooting. In the wounded man’s pockets was found a federal court summons requiring his appearance in Norfolk, Va., on a narcotic charge. Attached to the summons was a list
