inches, and from C to D, also 20 inches. Now from D to E measure 24 inches, or the length you wish your sleeve to be. From E to the edge, F. is whatever is left over. Now Cut Out the Back Now Figure 2. A is how you rut the back, and B is how you cut the two fronts. Note that the shoulder seam on the front is two inches longer that the one for the back, which is to allow- for a. dart, in it. Now sew the fronts to the back, like Figure 3. And the sleeves, like Figure 4, and a little straight collar, like Figure 5, and there you exactly are! If you want a belt, you will have enough left over from the strip at the bottom of Figure 1. If you don’t want a belt, buy 10 or 12 inches less material.

a a a Another Beach Coat "pHE body of the other beach coat is made in exactly the. same way as the one we have just finished. Only the sleeves are different, and the collar. And, sh-sh-sh, this one is just like one that a very famous French couturier is putting out this season! To the body of your beach coat, which you have cut slightly longer on the shoulders, add big 20-inch wide sleeves, like Figure 6. Cut away the surplus material underneath, and gather into a cuff, like Figure 7. And now either add the same kind of collar. Figure 8, or cut away the fronts and add a 2-inch double band like a huge binding. See Figure S. And this coat must have a belt, because it is supposed to be blousy and go-lumpy! x * Floppy Beach Trousers T7LOPPY beach trousers, oh, me, oh my! These can be 25 or 30 Inches around the bottom, and you cut each trouser leg out like Figure 10. Assemble these like Figure 11, turn up a wide band, like A, and tack it on either side if you wish—and there you are! These open a little way down each side and then button like B. and there is an extra piece of material sewed on the inside of them, like Figure 12. These beach trousers are w-orn over one-piece bathing suits and really are awfully cute! To go into the water, one takes them off, and right there and then steps into contrasting shorts pulled right on with a belt over the same one-piece suit! An Rcvoir!

\iyE have had the privilege recently of seeing some of the garments created from the. new African fabric made from palm fibers about whichwe told you not long ago. It is lightweight, waterproof and very supple—sounds like the ideal fabric for summer wear, doesn't it? One of these garments was a sleeveless jacquette in the natural color of the fiber, embroidered with the same palm fibers dyed in many bright colors, the design representing a, pair of delightfully savage and primitive Negroes with bows and arrows. Another jacquette of beige, with cloth collar and cuffs, was likewise embroidered, in this case with what appeared to our un-naturalist eyes to be antelopes. a a AN attractive afternoon coat, straight in line, was black, embroidered in a futuristically geometric design of grege palm fibers. 1 Another was of the natural color fiber, with incrustations of brightly colored linen, and at. the shoulder a flower of the pain fabric. Two more were of navy blue, one with a geometric pattern v.-oven in white fibers, the other embroidered in grege fibers and trimmed in w-hite fabric. And one of the “charmingest” of the sleeveless jacquettes was one of apricot (a. very, very good color this season, by the way), with an embroidered African design in blue and green. an a FLEUR DE PECHE—peach flower!
