MAN STRUCK BY HIT-RUN AUTOIST IS NEAR DEATH Touring Car Crashes into Pedestrian; Several Others injured. George Suyden. 52, of 1116 North Capitol avenue. Apartment 1, is in & critical condition in city hospital from injuries received when he was struck by a hit-and-run motorist at Eleventh trect and Capitol avenue early Sunday. Phillip Roell. 1706 South Delaware street, a taxicab driver, said he saw a large touring car, speeding south on Capitol avenue, hit Suyden. A full-blooded Apache Indian, John Eaglefeather, 40. of 1238 South Richland avenue, received severe lacerations on the head and shoulders when he was struck by an auto driver by Harrison Smith, 310 North Illinois street, at Pennslvania and South streets Sunday night. Smith was charged with assault and battery and violating a traffic signal. Eaglefeather was taken home after treatment. Lloyd Merrill, 16, of 1517 Montana Street, was arrested on charges of assault and battery and driving an auto without a permit, after his car collided with that of Mrs. Laura Pettiford, Negro, 50, of 1937 Yandes street at Martindale avenue and Twentieth street. Merrill’s car hurdled the curb and struck Charles White, Negro, 37, of 947 West Vermont street, Injuring him slightly. Others injured in week-end acfcidents were Miss Marie Hanker, 23, of 541 Holly avenue, cut over the eyes; Mrs. Howard Fouts, 4, Cumberland, Ind„ cuts on the forehead; Miss Geneva Cox. 16, and Miss Alma Cox, 22. both of 1242 Bridge street, cuts and bruises; Elmo Shields, 19. | also of 1242 Bridge street, cuts; Miss Clara Clark, 16, of 522 South East street, cut on the legs. Mrs. Nellie Day, 23, Anderson, Tnd ,! knee injury; Miss Frieda Reynolds, 8. of 2941 North Sherman drive, cut on the face; Miss Martha Ellen Cole, j 13, of 1410 Linden street, fractured j right leg and cut on the arm; Charles Sudmeyer, 60, of R. R. 5. Box ! 333, cuts and bruises; and Mrs. A. Ousted, 2043 North Meridian street, bruises and cuts.
