PACKARD SALES NEARJHLLION Company Is Conceded to Be Quality Leader. Automobiles valued wholesale at more than $800,000,000 have been sold by the Packard Motor Car Company in the last nineteen years, according to T. E. Byrne, local branch manager. The Packard automobile first was offered to the public nearly thirty years ago through the foresight of a group of men in Warren, O. Today the company is conceded generally to be the leading independent automobile manufacturer in the quality group and its product is probably more quickly and universally recognized than that of any other maker. There are few small boys who can not recognize a Packard, whether it be a 1910 or a 1929 model, Byrne said. Uniform schedule of prices for repair work, maintenance, and parts is a development of the general sales policy of equitable treatments designed to make Packard owners effective salesmen of Packard cars and logical prospects for repeat business. One entire building is maintained by the company at the Detroit plant for stocking spare parts and accessories for any Packard car or truck ever built, no matter how old. 32 HOUSES STARTED New construction in Indianapolis dropped slightly this week, according to a compilation of city building permits by the Indianapolis Real Estate Board. Thirty-two new residential projects amounted to $158,000. Two small buildings, one for the Bradley Warehouse Company, at 1505 North Blaine avenue, and one for W. R. Garter, at Vermont street and the canal, brought the total of new construction for the week to $167,000. Autoist Has Charmed Life Bu United. Press BOSTON.
