The Sprudels are reputed to be the best club turned out at the Springs since the late C. I. Taylor had the team. The Highways are practicing daily and hope to take both games. CATHEDRAL COPS FRAY With O'Brien allowing but four hits. Cathedral defeated Crjspus Attucks in a seven-inning return game Thursday at Riverside,' 6 to 3. The Irish collected seven hits off Thompson. Attucks hurler. Cathedral was charged with nine errors, Crispus Attucks with eight.

Preliminaries *n eleven of the sixteen events were to be held this afternoon ana finals Saturday. Three teams, Illinois, Michigan and lowa, were regarded as favorites, and four others. Chicago, Ohio State, Indiana and Wisconsin, were conceded a fighting chance for team honors. Eleven defending champions were among the entries and it was looked upon as a certainty that several records will be broken if good weather prevails. The returning champions are George Simpson, 100 and 220-yard dashes; Rut Walter, quarter mile; Hal W T hite, half mile; Orval Martin, mile; Dave Abbott, two mile; Pete Rasmus, discus; Wilmer Rinehart, javelin; Wilford Ketz, hammer; Robert Carr and S. S. Frey, high jump, and Frank Simon, broad jump, George Simpson, the great Ohio sprinter, who turned in performances of 9.5 and 9.6 seconds in the hundred on successive Saturdays this year, was regarded as almost a certain record breaker on a fast track.

Shires Is Ready to Rejoin Sox By United Pr^ss CHICAGO, May 24.—Art Shires, the ‘'bad boy” youngster of the Chicago White Sox, who left the team recently after engaging in a fist fight with Manager Lena Black - burne, was reported ready today to rejoin the club. Shires talked with both Blackburne and Secretary Harry Grabiner Thursday and was said to have expressed a desire to “forget things.”
Seven Fistic Scraps at Tabernacle May 29
Babe Peleco, New York,, and Ed Hammond, Louisville, will meet over ten rounds to top the Cadle tabernacle boxing show Wednesday night, May 29. Jimmie McLemore is the promoter. Seven scraps are to be staged. The semi-windup of six rounds will see Kid Gipson meeting Stanley (Kid) Ketchel, each 142 pounds.
