60 PRECINCTS ARE ADDED IN MARION COUNTY County Commissioners’ Act Seen as Move to Aid Boss Coffin. Sixty new voting precincts were added in Marion county today by county commissioners, who announced approval of the boundaries. New precincts increase the total number from 269 to 329. Many precincts were pulled from townships and placed under various city wards. This move was regarded as a step by George V. Coffin city and district Republican boss, to gain more support within the city limits, where insurgents are trying to unseat him. The city council has announced its intention to map out new cuy precincts. Commissioners today said the new arrangement approved bv them will stand for the next county election and they believed it should be used in coming city political contests. Precincts I p to 289 Within the city limits, the commissioners pushed up the precinct aggregate to 289. Previously the total was 195. Thirty-five precincts were shoved Into the city wards, the. majority Demg in the Fourth, Ninth and Tenth. , . The changes were approved in February by Democratic and Republican county chairmen. The new precincts will become effective for county elections after publication of the new boundaries Friday bv County Auditor Harry Dunn. New Lineup Given Following are shown, first the number of precincts formerly in the city wards, and second, the new number of precincts: First ward, 20 precincts, now 26; Second ward, 15 precincts, now 18: Third ward, 11 precincts, unchanged; Fourth ward. 47 precincts, now 61; Fifth ward, 8 precincts, unchanged; Sixth w-ard. 8 precincts, unchanged; Seventh ward, 8 precincts, now 9; Eighth ward, 10 precincts, now 15; Ninth ward. 27 precincts, now 36; Tenth ward, 22 precincts, now 34: Eleventh ward. 9 precincts, unchanged; Twelfth ward, 7 precincts, unchanged; Thirteenth ward. 15 precincts, unchanged; Fourteenth ward, 9 precincts, now 11. and the Fifteenth ward, 18 precincts, now 21. The number of precincts in Center foutside): Decatur. Franklin, Lawrence and Pike townships remained unchanged.
