Willys was re-elected president of the Willys-Overland Company and the entire official staff retained in office at the annual stockholders’ meeting of the organization late Tuesday afternoon in the administration building. Simultaneously, Willys issued a statement intended to dissipate recent rumors that he contemplated disposing of his stock in the company or altering his relations to it in any way. Rumors have persisted in financial circles here for a considerable time that he intended to leave the company. NEW AUTO GEAR SHIFT INVENTED Works Automatically, Cuts Gas Consumption. 6 y SEA Service MILWAUKEE. May 15.—The newest thing in the way of making driving easier for the motorist is an automatic gear shift, perfected byOscar H. Banker, and being placed on the market by the Claybourn Process Corporation. The device is easily manipulated and requires only one operation by the driver, that of disengaging the clutch and shifting a small lever under the steering wheel. When the car has gained a speed of eight miles an hour the car is automatically shifted into second. At fifteen miles an hour it goes into high. Several experiments conducted with the invention have proven satisfactory. In addition to the elimination of jerking caused by shifting and making more room in the front seat, it is claimed that a

saving of from 10 to 15 per cent in gas consumption is gained through, the elimination of the present standard gear. Hills offer no problem for the automatic shifter. Just as the machine works on a level stretch, it automatically cferanges gears as the speed diminishes up grade. The device is entirely mechanical and is controlled by the speed of the driver plus the power ' load through adjustments in the transmission.

Parks has been appointed director of advertising of the Plymouth Motor Corporation, according to an announcement made this week by A. Van Der Zee, Plymouth general sales manager.
