lines to the isolated towns of Colorado and Wyoming, Crippled railroad service was the outside world's only contact with Cheyenne, Wyo. From snow-swept sections of Wyoming came reports of severe damage to stock and the loss of one life. Northern Colorado was menaced by floods from melting snows. Rainstorms, which swept from the southwest in the wake of Texas and Arkansas tornadoes two days ago, brought new threats of floods to the residents of the Mississippi valley. The Mississippi river stood at twenty-two feet at Quincy, 111., and new r breaks in the weakened levees were expected today. Farmers in the lowlands near Lima lake, North Quincy and Hunt districts were fleeing. The water of the Mississippi at Canton, Mo., was rising an inch per hour. All tributory streams of the great river were threatening in lowa and Missouri. The Great Lakes region deluged
by rain for nearly a week, had escaped all storm damage except along the water front in Chicago. The sea wall, already battered by nearly ten days’ beating of lake waters, was rapidly weakening.
