ALLIED POWERS DRAW GERMAN DEBT FIGURES Negotiations Resumed in Reparations Session, Crisis Passed. BY SAMUEL DASHIELL t'nitfd Pre* Staff Correspondent PARIS, April 16.—The allied reditor powers were prepared today to present before another plenary session of the reparations experts an itemized accounting of •heir claims to show how they arrived at the figures contained in their memorandum to the German delegation. Dr. Hjalmar Schacht, head of the German experts, demanded more concise details from the four creditor nations. Owen D. Young, chairman of the conference, agreed and postponed the session until today, when the itemized figures were '0 be handed to the Germans for further study. The crisis which threatened •he conference when the allied memorandum was presented to the German delegation on Saturday seemed to have passed. The allies were conciliatory and Dr. Schacht, in spite of his lengthy talk yesterday protesting the severity of the terms, was willing to proceed with the negotiations. The gloom which was east over the negotiations by the extremely pessimistic note in the German press was completely dispelled today. Although the allied demands were far greater than the Germans were willing to accept without bargaining, it was indicated today that the new figures will serve at least as a basis for future negotiations. Prescription He Wrote in 1892 is the World’s Most Popular Laxative
When Dr. Caldwell started to practice medicine, back in 1875, the needs for a laxative were not as great as they are today. People lived normal, quiet lives, ate plain, wholesome food, and got plenty of fresh air and sunshine. But even that early there were drastic physics and purges for the relief of constipation which Dr. Caldwell did not believe were good for human beings to put into their system. So he wrote a prescription for a laxative to be used by his patients. The prescription for constipation that he used early in his practice, and u'hich he put in drug stores in 1892 under the name of Dr. Caldwells Syrup Pepsin, is a liquid vegetable remedy, intended for women, children and elderly people, and they need just such a mild, safe, gentle bowel stimulant as Syrup Pepsin. Under successful management this prescription has proven its worth and is now the largest selling liquid laxative in the world. The fact that millions of bottles are used a year proves that it has won the confidence of people who needed it to get relief from headaches, biliousness, flatulence, indigestion, loss of appetite and sleep, bad breath, dyspepsia, colds and fevers. Millions of families are now never

It is particularly pleasing to know that the most of it is bought by mothers for themselves and the children, though Syrup Pepsin is just as valuable for elderly people. Hie appearance of this Public Service Message in these columns is evidence that this publication subscribes wholeheartedly to the pnncu oles of the Better Business Bureau, and cooperates with the Bureau in protecting you . . even to the extent of refusing to accept the advertising of firms whose advertising and sales policies are proved to be contrary to public interest.
When you return merchandise to a store what is done with it? If it is not damaged, perhaps it goes back to stock at the same price. BUT if it is soiled, marked, scratched, or abused in any way, it is either a partial or complete loss to the merchant. Some returned merchandise lias to be refinished —cleansed, pressed or otherwise refreshened — before it may be re-sold. AND, whether the store loses all or part on returns, there is always the additional handling expense, such as marking, wrapping, delivery bookkeeping, etc. Merchants desire to please and satisfy customers, but abuse of the return privilege does n otmake if easy for them to do so. It injures efficient merchandising designed to give customers the best service and merohandise at lower prices. It is within the power, and is the dutv of customers to OUT DOWN RETURNS! Frequently the Better Business Bureau receives complaints from the public that such a store refuses to refund on a purchase. In many cases investigation shows the only reason for the return of merchandise was that the customer “changed her mind.'’ There is nothing the Bureau can do,in such cases, and complaints of this kind should not be sent, to us. On the other hand, any complaints involving fraud or misrepresentation should he referred to the Bureau. Usually we can help you.
