PLATING FIRM'S BUSINESS RISES AT RAPID RATE Adams Company Is Working Night and Day Crews; Forces Doubled. Now is the time for motorists to have the metal trimmings on their automobiles replated, Albert P. Kriese, production manager of Adams Plating Company, 138 West Tenth street, declared today. Plating automobile parts for the trade and f9r individual motorists forms the bulk of the company’s work. Operations of the company are at their peak in its history, Kriese said, with night and day forces working to keep up with orders. The force has been doubled in the last three months. One of the heaviest contracts of the company is chrome plating auto trim work, including bumpers and fenders, for the Stutz Motor Car Company. Chrome plating is the latest development in plating. It consists of applying a chromium coat over previous coating of copper and nickel, giving a hard finish with a bluish cast. Most automobile manufacturers have recognized its efficiency. The company now is equipped to do nickel, silver, copper and chromium plating on a large scale. Equipment added recently includes several polishing lathes of the latest type and pickling vats to remove the hot roll from raw steel and iron. U. S. POLAR DISPLAY STIRS INTEREST AT HOME SHOW Ice Palace Is Center of Attention; Refrigerator Sale Is Heavy. A special display of properly constructed ice boxes and refrigerators by the Polar Ice and Fuel Company at the home complete show this week attracted much attention. The display was housed attractively in an ice palace covered with imitation snow. On the front of the display was the Polar “coat of arms,” the word “Polar” on a shield with a nickel-plated ice box, under which were the words: “Say it with Ice.” During the last three weeks the Polar company has disposed of a carload of ice boxes each week and indications point to an even greater volume in the next few weeks. Prices are made on a basis of carload prices, plus actual handling cost.
Air Circulation Shown A glass enclosed ice box at the home complete exposition enables persons to see clearly the circulation of air in an ice-cooled refrigerator. A small pinwheel at the bottom is kept moving constantly by this flow of air. The air, as it circulates over and around the food, constantly is purifying air in the ice box, and taking off food odors. So far this year the company’s business has been greater than last year, the best year in history of the company. “People are beginning to understand the value of a good ice box, which not only saves ice, but better preserves food,” H. L. Dithmer, president, said. “Polar’s refrigeraI tors maintain a dry cold, but not so i dry that it takes all the necessary moisture from the food.” i At the home complete show tickets I entitling the holder to a credit of ; 15 cents on a 25-eent box of ice ! cubes are being given. Attendants | at the booth are attired in the white j duck uniforms worn by all Polar ice ; wagon employes, freshly laundered ! daily. Many Go to Offices Many persons who have been unable to get into the booth at the show because of the large crowds have gone to the company’s offices at 2000 Northwestern avenue, where there is ample parking spac° and where they have an opportunity to study carefully the various refrigerators offered by the company. Only ice boxes and refrigerators approved by the National Association of Ice Industries, which experiments with refrigerators at Columbia university, are sold by the Polar company. Home Beautiful Contest Open RUSHVILLE, Ind., April 13. A campaign to beautify homes and lawns of this city is being sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, with prize awards.
