SCOUTS HANDLE TRAFFIC AFTER PARADE SHOW Tomlinson Hall Exposition to End Week's Celebration. From noon to 1 p ni. the Scouts acted it traffic patrolmen. Groups were stationed at each street intersection to supplant tie city's uniformed officer. At 9 a. m. troops ol the city, headed by the Cathedral high school band. Charlie Davis gave several special musical numbers lor the youths. C. Roltaire Eggleston mystified with a ringjuggling act and several special Scout films were shown in addition to the regular performance. Tonight a roundup and court of honor will be held at 7:30 at Tomlinson hall. Merit badges will be given out and advancements in the various Scout classes announced. A feature of the court will be a pageant portraying Scouts ol other nations. The youths will carry the flags of sixteen nations. At the weekly luncheon of the Kiwanis Club Wednesday the pageant was given. Gunnar Berg. New York. Representative from national Scout headquarters, spoke. To Show Work. On Friday and Saturday a scout exposition is scheduled at Tomlinson hall. The exposition of handicraft of scouts will be open to the public from 1 p. m. to 10 p m. Friday and from 10 a. m. to 10 p. m. Saturday. Individual booths will display work in forging, carpentry, elcc- 1 Iricity. photography, forestry, avia- , lion, automobile, camping, stalking.! radio, cooking, textiles, chemistry, j insect, life and signaling. The Marin on Motor company’s band will aid scout bands in furnishing the musical program. Each troop will compete for prizes lor winning booths.

MAN. 49, KILLS SELF AND GIRL IN LOVE RAGE Shoots Daughter’s Schoolmate When Struggle Ends Joy Ride. Bu United Preas SOUTH NORWALK, Conn., April 4 Unrequited love was blamed today for the murder of 18-year-old Mary Yates, shot to death by Edwin J. Melruish, father of tw-o children, who then committed suicide. The shooting occurred Wednesday on the Ridgefield-Wilton rohd, where Miss Yates and Melruish, who was 49, were driving in his automobile. Miss Yates was a schoolmate of Melruish's eldest daughter, Elaine. 16. Farm hands, at work in a field, said they saw' Miss Yates and Melruish struggling in the front seat of the car. The man lost control of the car, it hit a telephone pole and w’ent over a ten-foot embankment. Melruish leaped to his feet, pulled out a pistol and shot Miss Yates in the head twice. 2 MEN HAVE NARROW ESCAPES IN CRASHES Escape Serious Injury When Cars Are Demolished. Two men today are congratulating themselves on their “charmed lives.” Both escaped serious injuries Wednesday when their automobiles were struck by trains. Frank Cladwell, 25, of 510 East Tenth street, was cut above the eye when his automobile was demolished by a Big Four passenger train at the Commerce avenue crossing. The coupe was dragged about seventy feet and thrown against a factory wall. —' Earl Martin, 50, Rural Route C, Box 661, Mars Hill, also was cut over the eye when his automobile w r as struck by a train at Morris street and the Belt railroad.
