gap that hitherto existed between ; the story of Abraham, who came into the country from the east about 2000 B. C., and the Galilee skull, which was found in a cave overlooking Lake Genesareth dur- , ing the 1925-26 season by F. Tur- I ville-Petre. This ancient skull, be- , longing to the well-known primitive Neanderthal race, dates back | to at Sir Arthur. There still remain to be found 1 relics that will give a view of the new stone age, which intervened between the close of the old stone age and the beginning of the age of bronze, to which the patriarch Abraham belonged. The age of iron in Palestine came in at about the I time of Saul, 1200 B. C. The body of the plant Welwltschia, which grows in southwest Africa, resembles an enormous j radish. It is sometimes twelve to ! fifteen feet in diameter. Two long i leaves trail from the body on to the : ground. They endure for the life 1 of the plant, which is sometimes for j 100 years.
