Aviation FLIER HOPS FOR SIBERIA TO AID ICEBOUND SHIP Arctic Ace to Make ‘Round Trip Across Pacific’ on Mercy Mission. By Unit id P,'ess NOME, Alaska, March B.—Noel Wien, Arctic ace who flew out over frozen wastes toward Siberia with a cargo of food for ice-marooned tailors, was expected back to Nome today. That Wien, veteran pilot of the Northland, would fail to make the ‘ round trip across the Pacific" was not entertained by his friends. They pointed out that Wien has been missing in the snow-clad territory several times, but always has returned to civilization without in-, jury, despite several forced landings on the ice. He took off yesterday on his mercy mission in an eight-passen-ger plane, bound for North Cape, Siberia, where the crew of the steamer Elisif is frozen in. The ship has a load of furs, so Wien took a large plane to bring some of them back. His friends termed the flight a “round trip across the Pacific” inasmuch as he will fly across Bering Straits, narrowest point in the ocean. Air Line Is Opened United States Air Lines, Inc., Cleveland, has announced anew air passenger service linking Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati. Two planes will be operated daily over the route. The company plans to n~,e Ryan pilot and five-passenger cabin monoplanes on the route. Detroit, Dayton and Louisville may be added to the route, if the venture is

Page, took off from frozen Saginaw bay at 10:41 this morning in a Stinson-Detroiter, in an effort to win the worlds endurance flight record. Their plane, the Sally Sovereign, must remain in the air more than sixty-seven hours to gain the record. but Stinson hopes to stay aloft eighty-five hours. Total weight of the plane, which carried 800 gallons of gasoline, was almost 9,000 pounds. Several previous attempts at a take-off had failed, because of soft ice, but with Stinson at the controls the big ship soared away easily this morning. The fliers plan to cruise
