COUNCIL WILL PASS ON PLANS FOR HOSPITAL Bond Issue for Power Unit Will Be Acted on Next Week. Plans for the new city hospital power plant have been tentatively approved by the city health board and will be submitted to city councilmen next week. An ordinance authorizing a bond issue for the power unit probably will be introduced in city council at the next meeting March 18, Dr. Frederick E. Jackson, health board president, said. Dr. Jackson said there are five alternative plans on the power unit and the exact cost depends upon which features are decided upon by Mayor L. Ert Slack and councilmen. Approximate cost will be about $450,000. Councilmen and Mayor Slack will be asked to meet next week to go over the power unit specifications. The board discussed the plans with C. R. Ammerman, consulting engineer; Robert Frost Daggett, architest, and Dr. C. W. Parnell, hospital consultant, at a conference this week. The power unit will be located west of the present hospital buildings, in vicinity of the Riley power unit. At the conference next week the city officials will decide what unit shall be erected next. The health board has tentatively decided to switch to the multiple-story plan for the next units of the main hospital. This will necessitate rearrangement of the hospital and conversion 1 of the present administration build-

ing into a residential’ unit. Anew administration and out-patient building probably will be erected west of the new surgery. Although a tablet on a London tavern states that Samuel Pepys, the famous diarist, was born in a house on that site, there is doubt about it. No one really knows whether he was bom in London or in a Huntingdonshire town.
