Sunnyside Reservation List Ready HUNDREDS of reservations have already been received for the ninth annual formal bah to be given by the Sunnyside Guild Monday evening at the Indiana ballroom. Proceeds of the ball will be used <o buy patient:-, at Sunnyside sanitarium comforts which appropriations by the county can not provide. Many public officials and other persons of social prominence in Indianapolis have reserved boxes and preparations have been made by & -pedal committee to decorate the ballroom more elaborately than ever before. Mrs. Henry' J. McCoy, chairman of the decorations committee, through the co-operation of Walter Bertermann, is providing all decorations as her contribution. Mrs. Chantilla White is general chairman for a dance. She is being assisted by a large committee. A special program of dances has been arranged by the entertainment committee, of which Mrs. Ansel P. Karvey is chairman. Louise Purcell Powell has created two Valentine dances in costume, especially for the occasion and Jack and lone Tullis will give specialty dances. State Federation of Music Clubs to Give Benefit The Indiana Federation of Music Clubs will entertain with a spring card party at the Marott hotel, March 15. Mrs. Edwin H. Shedd, hospitality chairman of the federation, is in charge of arrangements, assisted by Mrs. Harvey B. Martin, vice-chairman. Mrs. Shedd and Mrs. Martin are also in charge of general arrangements for the annual federation convention to be held April 11. 12 and 13 at Hotel Lincoln. They have served in this capacity for federation conventions for the past six years. Fund Dinner Reservation List Opens TWO hundred fifty reservations for the ninth annual dinner meeting of the Indianapolis Community Fund Feb. 20 have been received, Mrs. Peter C. Reilly, chairman of the attendance and promotion committee announced today. Invitations were mailed Wednesday to social and civic organizations of Indianapolis. More than 450 persons are expected to attend, including a group of representatives and others associated with community funds and chests throughout the state. It is pobable that reservations will be closed Feb. 16, Mrs. Reilly announced. Appoints Committee Miss Adele Pantzer, chairman of the usher committee, today appointed those who will assist her. They are Mesdames John Collett, E. Blake Francis, Charles Thomas; Misses Mary Louise Milliken, Helen Neal, Marjorie Okes and Louise Schwaninger. The first rehearsal of a pageant—to be given at the dinner—was held today. Mrs. Eugene Fife, instructor of dramatics at Butler university, is director. It is planned to depict the growth of the social agency movement in Indianapolis in terms of the years in which the member organizations 0 the Community Fund came into existence. Each of the thirty-seven member organizations of the fund will be represented by one person. Mrs. Owen Will Speak Before Club Ti/f’R'S. RUTH BRYAN OWEN, daughter of the late William Jennings Bryan and United States representative from the state of Florida, wall speak before members of the Woman’s Department Club at a general meeting at 2 Wednesday afternoon. Her subject will be “Modem Arabian Knights,” in which she will tell her personal experience as a war nurse in Palestine, where she witnessed the entry of Sir Hugh Allenby into the Holy City of Jerusalem, one of the most significant and appealing events of the World war. Her unusual experiences, brilliant mentality and personal charm have made Mrs. Owen one of the most effective and popular women on the lecture platform. Expert on Politics Although Mrs. Owen is still youngf* as the companion of her father, she met many prominent statesmen and pursued the study of political questions until she is an authority. She spent several years in the West Indies, Egypt and London with her husband, the late Maj. Reginald Owen, M. C. During the World war Mrs. Owen served on the executive committee of American Women’s Relief fund, which financed and operated a hospital in Devonshire. She was cosecretary and treasurer with Mrs, Herbert Hoover on the economic relief committee of the same organization. The speaker will be introduced by Mrs. William Dobson. C. V. Cornish, barytone soloist, will sing “The Holy City,” and “Open the Gates.” Mrs. Everett Schofield and Mrs. Edward Ferger, first and third vicepresidents of the club, will preside at a business meeting preceding the lecture. Ten to Be Given Mrs. Owen will be the guest of honor at a tea which will be held in the social rooms of the clubhouse. Mrs. Felix T. McWhirter and Mrs. A. E. Bradshaw will preside at the tea table. A story, selected from the works of a prominent author, will be read and discussed, followed by the reading and discussion of one written by Mrs. Josephine Duke Motley. Manuscripts iresented for criticism will first be passed on by a secret committee, after which they will be offered for general criticism.
