SCHOOL DENTIST BILL PROPOSED Annual Convention Held by Association Here. When little Rollo lays an apple on her desk his smile will have teacher’s careful scrutiny hereafter, for school children still will have another examination to pass—“dentistry”—if the legislature passes a bill prepared and discussed by the Indiana State Dental Association in annual convention at the Lincoln today. The proposed legislation was discussed at the state meeting by F. R. Henshaw, Indianapolis, and provides for “permissible” appointment by township trustee and city and town school commissioners of a dentist to make regular inspection of pupils’ teeth, report and make recommendations on the same. Startling statistics revealing the average American’s indulgence in unnecessary luxuries at the expense of his health were presented to the convention by Harry B. Pinney, Chicago, secretary of the American Dental Association, who declared that government records show, per capita, $lO spent for candy, $9 on education, $3.50 for fire and police protection, 75 cents for perfumery, :>0 cents for chewing gum, while only 29 cents represented his outlay for care of his health, including dentistry. Other speakers on the program of the state convention and several clinics included W. R. Meeker, Peru, president of the organization; C. L. Byers, secretary, and J. A. Moag. V. H. Knapp of Evansville is president-elect of the association. The annual banquet will be held at the Lincoln tonight following ten clinic and committee meetings to be field throughout the day. CHILDREN’S MUSEUM CAMPAIGN PROGRESSES Six New Life Members Obtained In Fund Drive Benjamin D. Hitz, life membership chairman for the Children’s Museum campaign which opened today, reported six new life members obtained to date. They are: Miss Florence H. Fitch, Mrs. Richard Lieber, Walter C. Marin on, Warren D. Oakes, Kurt Vonnegut and Benjamin D. Hitz. A life membership is SIOO or more. Mrs. E. C. Rumpler made a brief talk to the workers gathered today at the opening luncheon at the Board of Trade. Warren D. Oakes, general chairman of the campaign, presided. The next luncheon will be held Thursday at 12:15 at the Board of Trade dining room. Funeral Directors ~*W. T. BLASENGYM Main office 2236 Shelby St. Drexel 2570. FINN BROS. FUNERAL HOME. 1639 N.
