COOLIDGES AND HOOVERS RUSH THEIRMCKING Both Families Faced With Herculean Tasks on Moving Day. BY FLORA G. ORR Times Staff Correspondent WASHINGTON, Jan. U —Packing, In a large way, is going on in two important houses in Washington. As Mrs. Calvin Coolidge continues with the social affairs which are part of the duties of a President’s wife up to the last minute, the noise of the hammers can be heard in the attic of the White House. Packers are at work there, getting ready the many personal possessions of the Coolidges for shipment to Northampton. In the Herbert Hoover home on ! S street, packing also is going on. It is said to be absorbing many of the waking hours of the future mistress of the White House. The Hoovers have declined ail social invitations since their return here from South America, and have had only close friends with them for informal dinners, luncheons and teas. The influx of gifts for the Hoovers already has begun. On their South American trip, while they graciously declined as many things as possible, they received such great numbers of lovely presents that the packing situation is even more complicated than it otherwise would be. The Coolidges have several dogs whose future soon must be decided. They already have sent “Boston Bull” to Northampton, and it is believed that President Coohdge’s favorite, a quiet little chow called Tiny Tim, will be kept as a household pet, as well as Mrs. Cooiidge’s Scotch Sheltie, Calamity Jane.
