In the Cotton Market
(By Thomson & McKinnon) NEW YORK. Dec. 21.—Very little public interest was manifest in the cotton market this morning. Prices were easier on cables and disappointment at the failure of the market to advance on the beginging figures published yesterday. A belated short covering of December contracts gave that position a certain strength and checked the public’s inclination to take profits on their long cotton. Statistically, there Is much to be said for cotton but, as a rule, astute traders take it for granted that such conditions are discounted before the rank and file are In possession of the facts. Without predicting any radical price change in the immediate future, the policy of gradually selling out holdings on all advances appeals to us. NEW ORLEANS High. Low. Close.
