SCIENTISTS OF U. S. TURN EYES \ ON NEW YORK Army of 8,000 to Attend Convention Starting Two Days After Christmas. By Science Service NEW YORK, Dec. 21.—Scientists are moving on New York in an army 6,000 strong, and will arrive two days after Christmas, when the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and its forty-seven affiliated societies begin. For a week the host of teachers and researchers in science will discuss the latest advances in all fields from astronomy to zymology. The total number of technical papers to be read is not known yet, but It will probably be in the neighborhood of 1,500. The leading address of the meet-

Kofoid of the University of California will exhibit the famous Canti motion picture film, which depicts the behavior of living tissue cells kept in a glass dish. The New York Philharmonic Symphony Society will present a gift concert for visiting scientists and their friends, on Sunday after noon, in Carnegie Hall. On Sun day evening there will be a reception for the scientists at, the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A series of radio talks on scientific subjects, by leading workers in various fields, has been arranged under the joint auspices of the association’s news manager and of Science Service. These will be broadcast from a number of New York stations and from the chains of the National Broadcasting Company and the Columbia Broadcasting System. All the scientific and educational institutions of the city are preparing to share in the entertainment of the visiting scientists.
