MAIL FLIER DIES IN ’CHUTE LEAP Lands on Barn Roof, Tension Wires Cause Fire. Bu United Preen HURON, 0., Dec. 21.—A parachute jump which he determined upon when his plane was caught in blizzard, cost the life of Leo J. McGinn, 28, Maywood, 111., veteran national air transport airmail flier, here last night. McGin’s parachute failed to open and the flier’s body crashed through the roof of a barn, which burst into flames when the parachute fell across several high-tension wires and dragged them to the ground. The flier’s plane crashed in Huron’s main street, only a short distance away, and was enveloped in flames. Several sacks of mail were detsroyed. McGinn left the Cleveland airport at 5:05 p. m. He, encountered the blizzard about Huron and at the same time his plane apparently developed motor trouble. Woman, 104, Dies at Kokomo Bn Times Svecial KOKOMO, Ind., Dec. 21.—Mrs. Mary Walker, 104, oldest Howard county resident, is dead here at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Josephine Waits. Mrs. Walker was born in the hill region of Kentucky in 1824 and spent 102 years of her life there.

BAD LUCK FOR BANDITS Victim Gets His Gun, Goes After Robbers, Nabs Them. Bn United Press SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 21. Ted Wherry of Salt Lake City was

robbed by two bandits, who took everything he possessed. Then he got his gun and chased them. Police joined the pursuit and w T hen the gunfire got too hot the dered. Each got a bandits' surren-five-year sentence. And now Ted is the town hero, being acclaimed loudly by all his friends.

BUILDINGS IN PERIL Gas Main Blasts Continue in London, Seventeen Already Injured. Bn United Press LONDON, Dec. 21. Additional explosions of gas mains in the west end and central London districts early today did further damage and endangered the foundations of buildings in the district. Seventeen persons, including seven who were gassed, were injured in the explosions which began Thursday and continued intermittently for twenty hours after the first main burst. An explosion of an electric dynamo on which repairmen were working in a manhole caused the first main to explode.
