He had requested such a burial soon after Reed’s death. Captain Hibben, who died of pneumonia in St. Vincent’s hospital on his forty-eighth birthday Wednesday, was a native of Indianapolis, son of the co-founder of Hib-ben-Hollweg & Cos. His career was a colorful one and carried him throughout the world/ It was as a fellow journalist and Harvard man that he became acquainted with Reed. Both embraced so-called radical ideas regarding government and Reed was selfexiled to Russia to escape prosecution here. Captain Hibben was twice called before an army board regarding retention of his reserve commission, the last time after he had taken part in a Sacco-Vanzetti demonstration.
