Aviation HOOSSER PORT HEAD FLIES TO LOSJINGELES Shank and Gunther Pilot Cliff Durant’s Planes to West Coast. Bob Shank, Hoosier airport president, and Clarence Gunther, pilot for Cliff Durant, millionaire race driver, left today for Los Angeles, flying Durant's two Whirlwind Stearman biplanes. Tommy Milton and Robert Donough, famous race drivers, were passengers in the planes. Durant and Gunther recently flew the two ships here, Durant coming here to visit Milton. Durant later returned to Los Angeles by train. Shank expected to return to Indianapolis by train. Passengers to Chicago Passengers will be earned to Chicago this week in Hoosier airport’s big five-passenger Travel Air cabin monoplane to attend the Chicago motor show, Harold C. Brooks announced today. Brooks said he was making up a party to leave here Tuesday morning and return Wednesday. Another trip will be made Thursday, returning Friday or Saturday. Flies to Football Game Lieutenant F. V. Irvin, Army flier stationed at Selfridge field, Mt. They were piloted by Clarence Gunther. Goes West by Air Evans Chatfield, Cincinnati, was a passenger on the Embry-Riddle air mail plane through Indianapolis Sunday on his way to Colorado Springs on business. Harold Pielmeier, operations office clerk for the Embry-Riddle company, returned to Cincinnati Sunday morning on the mail plane, after visiting relatives here. Robert Trier, Chicago business man,, returned to Chicago Saturday night on the mail plane after transacting business here. Trier said he was “sold” on the advantage of travel by air and intends to use air transportation frequently on business trips in the future. Start Building Hangar Work on anew ten-plane hangar was started today at Capitol airport, West Thirtieth street, west of Lafayette pike. The new hangar will give he airport space for twenty planes. One end of the new hangar will be devoted to a Wright Whirlwind engine repair shop, with all facilities for handling and repairing this type engine. A complete line of replacement parts for this engine will be carried. Two new floodlights have been installed on the field over the weekend and a third is to be installed later, to provide adequte lighting facilities for night landing.
