Club to Hear Program by Mrs. Long MRS. W. D. LONG will entertain the Indianapolis Business and Professional Women's Club at its meeting Dec. 6 with dlialect songs and stories of the south, given in costume. “Current Thoughts of General Interest” will be the topic of a talk by Miss Florence Drake. Anew club at Knightstown will soon be added to the Indiana Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs. Organization under direction of Mrs. Floy Mey, Shelbyville, director of the Sixth district and Miss Gladys B. Riddle, Connorsville, first state vice-president, will be completed at a dinner meeting Dec. 3. Miss Grace Howard is temporary chairman and Mrs. Mason Walters, temporary secretary of the new club. Committees have been appointed to nominate officers, prepare and submit by-laws and arrange the program. Chief Justice Florence Allen of the Ohio supreme court will deliver a lecture at Kendallville Dec. 14 under auspices of the Kandallville Club. Local Rotarians, as well as business and professional women from nearby cities, will attend the lecture at the Strand theater. An emblem breakfast will te given by the Sullivan Club Sunday morning, Dec. 9. Guests will be members of nearby clubs in both Indiana and Illinois. Miss Mercia Hoagland, Indianapolis, was the speeaker at an intercity dinner meeting given by the Hammond Club Monday evening. Club members from Michigan City, Valparaiso, Whiting and Gary were guests. The program was in charge of Miss Irma Hederick. Mrs. Gladys Heaton, Clinton, state emblem chairman, was guest of honor at en emblem party given by her club Wednesday evening. Members of all clubs within a radius of ICO miles were invited guests. Mrs. F.eaton is author of an emblem playlet which was given at the state convention in Michigan City last spring and which is being reproduced by local club all over the state this year. Dr. Ada Schweitzer, Indianapolis, spoke at a joint meeting of the Elkhart and Goshen clubs at Elkhart Friday evening. Pi Beta Phi Alumnae to Give Bazar THE Indianapolis Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi sorority announces that its annual bazar will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Woman’s Department Club, 1702 Nofth Meridian street, from 10 a. m. until 6 p. m. Luncheon will be served at 12, with Mrs. Ralph Jones in charge of arrangements. Reservations should be made by Tuesday with Mrs. Jasper P. Scott, 5336 North New Jersey street. INTERNATIONAL STUDY CLUB CALENDAR FOR NEXT WEEK
The regular executive board meeting of the International Travel and Study Club will be held at 7:45 on Tuesday evening in the Roberts room of St. Paul’s church, Illinois and New York streets. The president and secretary of each of the thirtytwo chapters will be present. Mrs. Frank Spangler will give a group of songs, accompanied by Miss Helen Starost. Mrs. J. A. Cameron, president of the federation, will preside.
Mrs. Samuel R. Artman will lecture next week on “Italian Music” to the following chapters of the club: Venetian chapter, Monday at the home of Mrs. Effie Hill, 2521 North Alabama street. Mrs. Mattie Scooler will be assisting hostess. Decorations and entertainment will be carried out in Thanksgiving designs and colors. Verses about Thanksgiving will be given in response to roll call. Arabian chapter will meet for a 12:30 p. m. luncheon Tuesday at the home of Mrs. M. Brooks Miller, 132 C North Beville avenue. The hostess will be assisted by Mrs. Kathryn B. Bayne. Response to roll call wil! be thoughts about Thanksgiving. A program of Italian music will be given by Mrs. Laura Craig Poland. Governor Bradford’s Thanksgiving proclamation of 1623 will be read. Colonial-Boston chapter will entertain members of the Vernon chapter at their first joint meeting Wednesday. Phi Theta Delta Members Present, at Installation Members of Alpha and Beta chapters, Phi Theta Delta sorority, went to Ft. Wayne today to install Gamma chapter of the sorority in that place. Edwards will review "A President Is Born,” by Fanny Hurst, and “Destiny Bay,” by Donn Byrne. Mrs. Arthur P. Thomas will be in charge of the literature questionnaire. Sororities at Butler Have Busy Days THINGS are fairly humming out at the sorority houses at Butler university, what with Thanksgiving coming and a vacation near. Most of the sororities are planning some sort of festivity if it is only the emptying of the houses and a trek en masse homeward. Pi Beta Pi sorority will hold open house Sunday at the chapter house 251 South Audubon road, in hono. of new pledges. Tall candelabra with lighted white candles will flank either side of fireplace in the living room and a small replica of these will be placed on the piano. In the dining room, the tea table will be lighted with pale yellow candles in candelabra and have a centerpiece of bronze pompom chrysanthemums. Misses Mary Perkins and Billie Dunkle will pour. Members of the senior class will assist in the dining room. Monday, the sorority will entertain with a tea in honor of Miss Margaret Bruner, faculty ally and alumnae members. Similar decorations will be used in the house, and Misses Janet Carr and Margaret Thompson will preside at the tea table. Founders’ Day Banquet Delta Delta Delta sorority will celebrate Founders’ day with a formal banquet at 6 Tuesday evening in the oriental room of the SpinkArms hotel. Active members, pledges and alumni will be present. Tables will be decorated with crystal bowls of yellow and white pompom chrysanthemums and lighted with silver, gold and blue tapers in crystal holders, tied with the same shades of tulle. At the speakers’ table will be Miss Mary Louise Pierce, general toastmistress; Mrs. Frederick R.
