CITY BUILDERS TAKE TO USE OF FIRWrS PIPE Reinforced Concrete Tubes Put on Pleasant Run Drive. Approximately 34,000 feet of reinforced concrete pipe, 42 by 48 inches in diameter, recently was installed for the Pleasant Run boulevard Improvement by the Independent Concrete Pipe Company, 201 Northwest street. J. H. Lambert, secretary of the company, today declared that the city of fndianapolis, recognizing the permanency of concrete piping, has made a practice of installing this product. “In recent years, all of the Indianapolis leading contractors including the Columbia Construction Company, J. H. King Company, the Sheenan Construction Company, and other prominent local firms have installed Independent Reinforced Concrete Pipe,’’ he said. The Independent Concrete Pipe Company, now in its fourteenth year, is said to be the largest reinforced concrete pipe manufacturer in the country using the handtamped field method. • Howard Schurmann, president of the company, has been associated with the manufacture of reinforced concrete pipe for a number of years. Lambert has been with the Indianapolis concern since 1917. H. *R. Duckwall is chairman of the board of directors. Manufacturing for national as well as local installation, the company has extended its scope to include Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Illinois. Large storage facilities are maintained, at East Seventeenth street and Sherman drive, where concrete mixers, steel forms, cast iron top and bottom rings, boilers for steam curing the pipe and other equipment sufficient to produce about two miles of pipe per day, are housed. PLAN REALTY SURVEY Local Men on Committee Named by National Group. Appointment of a committee of local realtors to make the twelfth annual survey of the real estate market for the National Association of Real Estate Boards was announced today by Emerson W. Chaille, Indianapolis Real Estate Board president. - The committee will be composed of Joseph J. Argus, chairman: Leo F. Welch, George W. Klein, Albert J. Quigley and E. E. Shelton. The committee will report on local conditions now as compared to November, 1927. It will include a summary of general market conditions, the building situation, the subdivision market, the residential and business property rental situation, the subdivision market, the ation, and conditions in the mortgage money market.

Realty Market Is Brisk; Apartment Building to COST $220,000. Building permits took a sudden jump this week, and the local real estate market showed fair strength, according to the weekly report of the Indianapolis Real Estate Board. New construction for which permits were issued totaled In cost $855,460. Os this $140,960 was for new residences and $220,000 for an apartment building at 3060 North Meridian street. Business as well as residential property were included in the week’s realty deals. Purchase by Frank Lawson, local contractor. of a property on the northwest corner of Capitol avenue and the firet alley south of sixteenth street wax announced by F. C. Tucker of the F. C. Tucker company. The property, sixty-one feet frontlng on Capitol avenue and 208 feet deep, wilt be held by Lawson as an Investment. There are three residences on It. The property was bought from Dora Wechler through H. L. Yelch of the Tucker company. Exact consideration Involved in purchase of the Capitol avenue property was not disclosed, but It was understood to be In excess of 32.50 a front foot. Other Deals Closed A number of other deals were closed by the Tucker company. A filling station, being erected on property of the company at Thirtieth street and Martlndale avenue, was leased to William Carrico for five years. The lease wll average approximately $1,200 a year. Three residential properties also were sold by the Tucker organization. Ada M Dixon bought a property at 320 South gray street for *2.800. and a resdence at 344 South Edgehlll road was sold for C. E. Thomas to Shirley H. and Stella Woody for $3,400. Representing Albert and Myrtle Bloink, the company bought at 1714 Ruckle street from John C. and Eva Obenchain through Neal Grider. The price wax $3,400, The Tucxer Company traded nine lots to Henry B. Knue, builder, for anew residence. 2304-6 East Fifty-second street. Seven lots are In Tuckers East Thirtyfourth street addition and two are In Tucker's Emerson avenue addition. Value on each side of the transaction was estimated at 18.000. A site on the east side of Meridian street, south of Ffty-slxth street, was sold bv Emma J. Pfafflln to John M. Ritter, builder, for a *25.000 brick veneer residence. Hal R. and Ruth J. Kealing bought a nearby lot from Mrs. Pfafflln ai.d have contracted with Ritter to build a house to cost approximately *30.000. Lots Are Sold Earl S. Heasxler of the Union Trust Company lot department sold to Martha B Denny a lot at the southeast corner of Fifty-sixth and Meridian streets as the site for a residence to cost between *30.000 and *35.000. The company sold to William F. Parrish, builder, a lot at Fifty-third street and Central avenue. Property In the Armstrong Park addition on East Thirty-eighth street was bought by the Crocl Conder company as the site for anew bungalow, and Adolph Ansenhaensel bought a lot at South Meridian street and the Norwood road, where he will build a bungalow. Salesmen for the Washington Bank and Trust Company, real estate department, also closed a number of deals. A. L. Conn negotiated a trade in which two properties at 26 North Holmes avenue and 611 Tomlinson street changed hands between William J. Ragan and Floyd Wincell. Property at 433 South Llnhurst drive was sold to William J. Wlllenburg by H. L. Marsh, and Louis L. Beard sold to Russell Sherwood a five-acre tract In Eastern Acres. A lot In Meridian Hills addition was sold bv James C. Myers, representative of the company, and a residence at 1058 South Sheffield avenue was sold by E. H. McLain. H. J. Palin sold another property in Vernon Acres.

EXCURSION OFFERED Union Traction Prepares for Thanksgiving. Union Traction Company of Indiana is making elaborate preparations to handle the usual heavy Thanksgiving traffic, according to F. D. Norvlel, general passenger and freight agent. Excursion rates will be hold Nov 28 and 29 with return limits to and Including Dec. 3. The excursion fares will apply to points located on the Indiana Service Corporation, Ft Wayne-Lima railroad, Winona railroad and Chicago, South Bend and Northern Indiana Traction Company as well as In Union ’fraction Company territory. TULAREMIA WARNING STOPS RABBIT SUPPER Annual Affair at Seymour Church Postponed Until Cold Weather. B United I’reus SEYMOUR, Ind., Nov. 24.—The annual rabbit supper which was to have been held Friday night at the First Baptist church here was postponed as a result of a state health board warning against rabbit fever. “We cannot get the women to come to the church and cook the rabbits and we cannot get the men to come and eat them,” said F. O. Whitmer, superintendent of the men’s department of the church, referring to announcement by the state board that there Is danger of tulameria in rabbits. SEAL HOUR ON RADIOTONIGHT Health Campaign Program Over WFBM. Second of the series of Christmas seal hours will be broadcast over WFBM Saturday night at 7:30 from the main studio of the station, 229 North Pennsylvania straat, Mrs. Chantllla White, seal program chairman of the Marlon County Tuberculosis Association, announced today. The seal hours have been donated by WFBM as its part of the co-operation of many Indianapolis civic agencies to make the 1928 Christmas seal sale of the tuberculosis association the largest In the history of Indianapolis and Marion county. The seal hour program Saturday night also has been donated by Norman Perry, president of the Indianapolis Power and Light Company, which oips and operates WFBM. The program will be given by the WFBM concert orchestra, well known to radio enthusiasts. Dr. Herman G. Morgan, secretary of the Indianapolis board of health, will give a three-minute address on the subject, "The Christmas Seal and Public Health.” Dr. Morgan will discuss the various phases of preventive and curative tuberculosis work being carried on in the community and will tell how the Christmas seal salts of the tuberculosis association since 1914 have been the greatest single factor in building up both public and private agencies for control of the disease.
