PARKING RULES ARE CHANGED IN COUNCILS CODE Only One Side of Narrow Streets Can Be Used, Say Regulations. On streets less than thirty leet wide, parking will be restricted to one side of the street under provisions of the new municipal traf sic code adopted Monday night by city council, which becomes effective two weeks following approval and publication. On all streets and avenues running north and south, less than thirty feet wide, parking will be restricted to the west side of the street. On all streets less than thirty feet wide, running east and west, parking will be restricted to the south side of the street. Parking at any time is prohibited: On both sides of North Alabama street from Ft. Wayne avenue to Eleventh street. On both sides Bird street, between Ohio and New York streets. Belmont street, west side, from Washington street to Oliver avenue. On both sides of Central avenue, from Tenth to Eleventh street. Clifton street, east side, from Roach to Thirty-fourth street. Eleventh street, north side, from Illinois o Pennsylvania street. Eleventh street, north side, from Alabama street to Central avenue.. Ft. City’s Through Streets Designated by Council

The designation, “through street,” displaces “preferential street” in the new traffic code adopted Monday night by the city council, to become effective two weeks after approval and publication. Thirty-one streets are designated as “through” streets ,at which all traffic approaching must come to a full stop. Drivers on both streets, however, will be subject to the usual right-of-way rule prescribed by state law. Designated as “through” streets are: All boulevards: Alabama street at Market street. Burdsal parkway from Northwestern avenue to East Riverside drive. Capitol avenue from Washington street to Westfield boulevard. Central avenue from Thirty-fourth street north to city limits. Clifton street from Roach street to Thirty-sixth street. Delaware street from Washington street north to Thirty-second street.

No Quarter ‘Friends’ Won’t Take 'Care of Stickers Under New Traffic Law.

T'VISREGARD of traffic "stickers” because of a friend who can ‘take care’ of them” will be ended by the new traffic code, if it accomplishes its promises in this respect. Under ordinance passed by city council Monday night, trafficstickers will be numbered serially and each sticker given will be reported to the city clerk by the traffic bureau at police headquarters. When fees are paid, they will b checked by the city clerk and a report of fees collected will be made to city council monthly. First, second, and subsequent violations also are to be reported to the council, as well as cancella tions of fees, reasons, and names of persons cancelling fees to accompany the cancellation stubs. Minister Prochnik of Austria, accompanied by Frederick Sard, presented phonograph records of Schubert’s music and promptly at noon a record was played in the President’s office while similar records were being heard in 2.315 other cities and town of the United States. RIGHT OF WAY TO PEDESTRIAN Walker Will Benefit by New Traffic Code. Pedestrians' rights are placed above those of motorists in the traffic code adopted by city council Monday night. With respect to pedestrians, the new code provides: Drivers of vehicles must give right of way to pedestrians at any marked crosswalk or unmarked crosswalk at end of block, except where traffic officers or control signal is provided. Unlawful for any vehicle to overtake and pass any other vehicle stopped for “through” street, crosswalk or traffic signal. Pedestrians must cross streets at crosswalk at end of block. Pedestrians must move with traffic at intersections governed by traffic officer or signal, and must not cross against the red signal. Pedestrians starting on green cy “go” signal shall have right of way over all vehicles, including those making turns. Pedestrians cross streets at marked crosswalks or unmarked crosswalks in congested district controlled by traffic officer or signal, and shall keep to-right at all crosswalks. Pedestrians are prohibited from standing in roadway and soliciting rides. Oldest County Resident Dies BERNE, Ind., Nov. 20.—Funeral services were held here today for Christian Burkhalter, 95, oldest resident of Adams county, who died Sunday.
