In the Stock Market

ißy Thomson & McKinnon) NEW YORK. Nov. 16.—1 t was very evident long before the opening of the market this morning that the report on brokers' loans published yesterday was construed as very bullish. There was a popular response with numerous buying orders ranging all the way from the few shares lot to those of thousands. The thought uppermost In the minds of the people was that a market could be sustained as the present one was with only a minor addition to loans would, of necessity, excite further an already excited Imagination. Everyone whose opinion Is respected loses no opportunity to publicly express confidence In our commercial and financial situation and In the continuation of prosperity. Futhermore, the men who lead the market operations continue to exercise a high degree of cleverness In exerting support at such times and In such places when and where necessary. This encourages the public, who Is now interested in the market to a greater extent than ever before. To a certain extent the public Is really In control of the market. This very fact compels one to keep constantly in mind the thought that the occurrence of one thing or another - that would not be seriously considered by the big interests, might be sufficient to create a stampede on the part Os the public. Such things have happened. The most friendly suggestion that can be offered at this time it keep cooL

CORN BOOSTED TO HIGH MARK; BIOJIPWHEAT Inclement Weather and Export Rumors Lead to Bulls’ Field Day. Bn United Press CHICAGO, Nov. 16.—Corn bulls went on a rampage on the Board of Trade today and bid prices sharply higher, encouraged by inclement weather and rumors of export trade. Wheat was erratic, but braces with corn toward the close. Oats also were higher. Wheat closed % cent up, com was % cent to IV* cent higher and oats were up % cent to % cent. Provisions were slightly lower. Wheat was higher during the early trade, due to the absence of serious pressure, but locals resumed their practice of selling on. bulges and a recession followed. Exoprt business was negligibe. Heavq rains and a forecast of continued unfavorable weather induced heavy purchases of corn. Snow fell in North Dakota, but temperatures in other sections were unseasonably high. Reports said that fields were muddy and husking would be delayed several days, even though the weather cleared. It was rumored that exporters were working in the St. Louis market. The December delivery suffered from liquidation at the start, but the prospect of light receipts encouraged support. Commission houses took most of the oats offered. Chicago Grain Table —Nov. 16 —- WHEAT— Prsv. Open. High. Low. Close, close.
