SELL AIRPLANE BY ‘PAY WHILE YOU RIDE' PLAN Installment Buying Started in Aviation; S3OO p Gets One. By Times Special ' NEW YORK, Nov. 16.—Installment buying, which has made it possible for many homes to have radios, washing machines and new dining room furniture, and which i has been a mainstay of the automobile industry for several years, , now has been applied with success to airplane distribution and seems likely to be taken up on a big scale by financing corporations interested In aviation. One manufacturer has been selling airplanes on the installment , plan for two years, with such success that the company has shown vastly increased profits, and has been able to increase its output un- • til it has become a leader in the field. Initial Payment j r The usual procedure in selling a plane on the installment plan is to require an initial payment of 30 to 40 per cent, as is generally the case In buying an automobile. Two indorsers are required on the note, both of whom must be business men and property holders. To the list price of the plane (there is a charge added of 11 per Cent for interest, risk, handling charges and financing costs. The balance, after the initial payment has been deducted, may be paid ir fen equal monthly installments. . Naturally, it is more expensive to finance the purchase of an airplane than an automobile, and this would hold even if the prices were equal This is because of the high insurance rates. Premiums Are High Insurance companies charge high premiums, but an investor wants to be assured that his money will be protected even if the plane is destroyed in a crash. A pilot who has very iittle capital may acquire a good plane by making a payment of S3OO to SSOO and engage in some form of commercial aviation to earn the money for his payments and make a profit besides Or a transport company may provide itself with a larger fleet of ships by using available capital for initial payments instead of paying all cash. Mrs. Lansing is named sole executrix. It is said the total estate will be approximately $250,000. CORONATION END~NEAR Dinner Saturday to Wind Up Japanese Enthronement.
