NEW PAVING IN USE: BRIDGES ALSO CLEARED Several Stretches of Road Ready for Traffic in State. Several stretches of new pavement and new bridges went into use on state highways this week, the bulletin of the Indiana highway department discloses. Construction was completed on Road 15 from New Paris to Waterford. On Road 27 new pavement was completed from one-half mile west of Berne to a mile south of Monroe. Treatment work was completed on the same road between Waterloo and Pleasant Lake. General road conditions: Rond 2—Three bridge run-nrounds onehalf mile nnd one mile east of state line and two and one-half miles west of Lowell. Road 8- Bridge run-around one-half mile north of Petroleum. Road 7—One-way traffic bridge ten miles north of Madison. Road 10—Bridge run-around three miles east of Bass Lake. Detour two end onohalf miles east of Culver to Culver is three and one-half miles. Rond 15—Bridge run-around two end one-half miles south oi Lu Fountain*. Detour at La Founlatne is one mile. Montlrello Paving Open TT, S. Road 24—New pavement open from Montlcello for fourteen miles east, then detour one-half mile north to old route to Logansport. Road 25—Pavement open from Logansport to Rochester with one mile detour In Fulton and three and one-half mile detour two and one-half miles north of Fulton. Road 25—Temporary detour in Ruastavllle Is three miles. U. 8. Road 27—Detour two miles south of Richmond Is five and one-halt miles. Slow down between Richmond and Chester. Detour from Bryant to one-half mile north of Bryant Is three and one-half miles. Detour from seven miles north of Decatur to two miles south of Ft. Wayne ta thirteen miles. Road 28—Bridge run-nrounds five and one and one-half miles west of Romney. Detour three miles east of Romney is three miles.
Several Detours Listed Road 29—Detour five miles south of Road 32 is two miles. Detour at intersection of Road 32 is four miles. Detour Bom Kirklin north Is three and one-half miles. Bridge run-around north of Michigantown. Drive carefuly past workmen between Minarnac and Knox. Detour near Bass Lake Is three and one-mile miles. Detour six miles north of Knox is two miles, one of which is over Road 30. . 8. Road 30 —Run-around at Erie railroad crossing two miles east of Schererville. U. 8. Road 31—Run-nround at south edge of University Heights (Indianapolis) account public utility laying gas main. Road 34—Detour from Veedersburg to Road 41 Is one and one-half miles. Detour from Crawfordsvllle to New Ross is about sixteen miles, eight of which is pavement. Road 55—Detour from three miles south of Salem to one mile south of Salem is three miles; narrow road and in fair condition. Road 37—Detour from Paoll to one and one-half miles north of Orleans is twelve and one-half miles, lair condition. Detour from Bedford to four miles south of Bloomington Is twenty-two ml}es, narrow steep grades and sharp turns although good surface. Bridge run-arounds live miles north of Bloomington. Road 59—Detour from one and one-half miles north of Rossville is three miles. One Bridge Run-around C. 8. Road 40- Bridge run-around at Stllesvllle, U. 8. Road 41—Detour at Veedersburg is one-ha!f mile. (Open Nov. 10). Roal 44—Detour from ConnersvlUe west is six miles. Road 50—Bridge run-around Just west of Seymour. Detour from Junction of roads 1 and 60 via Milan and Mooreshill to Aurora is twenty-two miles, part of which is only fair condition. (Road opened between Dillsboro and Aurora for local traffic). Road 53—Detour from Rensselaer to four miles north of Rensselaer i* eight miles, part fair. Road 56—Bridge run-around at Junction of roads 56 and 61. Earth surface < between Salem and Scottsburg U ’impassable most of time. Bridge runarounds at two and four miles west of Madison. Detour two miles west of Vol/ is two and one-half miles; fair. Road 57—Bridge run-around six and one-half miles north of Newberry.
Bridges Are Dangerous Road 58—Surface ft narrow; many dangerous bridges. Road 62—New pavement open from New Slbany to two miles west of LanesviUe. Through traffic to Corydon detour over State Roads 150 and 35 which is thirtythree and one-half miles. Heavy construction between Unlontown and Sulphur la being done under traffic—ten mile speed limit. _ Road 66 Impassable between Newburg and Hatfield, with no detour. Through traffic avoid Road 66 and route via Roads *5 and 62 until further notice. Road 6—Detour from Bicknell two miles north. Bridge run-around six ona-half miles north of Worthington. Bridge runaround three miles south of Centerton. Detour from three and one-half miles northeast of Muncle to Albany Is seven miles. Detour from Albany to Portland la twenty-one miles. Detour from Bryant to Indlana-Ohlo line la ten miles, (will change this week). U. S. Road 150—Workmen building shoulders between West Baden and Fredrlcksburg. Ten mile speed limit. Bridge run-around six and one-half miles east of Paolt. Roads not mentioned and parts of roads mentioned, but not specified, and all detours not otherwise described are In good condition.
