—Aviation AIRPORT PRICE CUT ISWANTED City Officials Delay Move to Buy Site. City officials apparently are delaying purchase of a municipal airport site in hope of obtaining price reductions. Mayor L. Ert Slack declined to discuss what moves are being made toward purchase of a landing field. The mayor’s airport committee has had only informal conferences. Some city officials are understood to favor another site than No. 30, recommended by the Chamber of Commerce citizens’ committee. Clifford L. Harrod, Chamber industrial commissioner, and Paul H. Moore, Chamber aeronautics secretary, have conferred frequently with Slack. The statute provides that city council shall adopt estimates, plans and specifications on one or more sites. The council has not discussed the airport in open meeting. “It hasn’t come to us yet,” said Chairman Edward W. Harris of the finance committee. It is not known whether council is awaiting a recommendation from the mayor. Financial and equipment committees of the Chamber are awaiting action of the city in selecting a site before they start activities. “We’re ready to begin work at any .time after the city decides on a location,” said Moore, secretary of the equipment committee.

Nothing so indicates the w idespread use of the airplane beyond the "fringe of Canadian Civilization as the fact that Indian trappers are using the plane to reach their trap lines. Natives made wealthy from profitable returns from their fur trades have long graduated from dog sleds to motor cars, but now the mail plane from Mayo occasionally carries Indian trappers, who find it an ! economical method of travel, a few hours of comfort in the air being substituted for days spent toiling behind a laboring dog team.
