Federation of Clubs to Meet Here THE annual State convention of the Indiana Federation of Women's Clubs will be held at the Claypool Hotel. Oct. 23, 24 and 25. Mrs. Hamet D. Hinkle, Vincennes, is federation president. The keynote of the convention will be “Glorify Indiana.” Among the principal speakers for the affair are Mrs. Edward Franklin White, past president of the State federation; Miss Forba Daniels, Indianapolis, secretary of the State Bankers’ Association; William Herschell, Mrs. Felix T. McWhirter, Chic Jackson, J. Raymond Schultz, North Manchester College, and A. J. Wedeking, of the State Highway Commission. Thursday evening. Dr. Lotus D. Coffman, president of the University of Minnesota, formerly of Indiana, will speak. The fede 'ation dinner will be held Thursday evening in the Riley room of the Claypool. Music for the convention sessions will be furnished by the Progress Club sextet, South Bend, of which Mrs. Eli F. Seibert is a member. Four State officers will be elected this year: First vice president, recording secretary’, treasurer and one trustee.

Bloch, Indianapolis, has been here this week, but will return to Indianapolis, coming later with Mrs. Bloch to spend the fail season. CANDIDATES’ ATTITUDE DESIRED BY LEAGUE Candidates will be given an opportunity to state their positions on legislative measures in which the Indiana League of Women Voters are particularly interested, it has been announced. In writing to candidates, Mrs. Walter S. Greenough, president of the Indiana league, explained that the womer* voters, through individual members of the organization have been studying some of the problems of import to citizens. Questions and statements of policy sent to candidates included child welfare, Muscle Shoals and abolition of “lame duck” sessions of Congress. Music Group Season Will Be Opened THE music section of the Woman’s Department Club will open the season -with a noon luncheon Tuesday at the clubhouse. Hostesses for the luncheon are Mesdames Herbert Grimes and Foster, assisted by Mesdames E. A. Wiley, C. A. Breece, G. W. Bowman, George Cox, E. L. Pedlow, T. W. Engle, Paul Meloy and Charles A. Carlisle. Following luncheon a study program will be held at 1:30 p. m. on Edgar Stillman-Kellet's book, "Musical Intruments,” third year book of the study course of the National Federation of Music Clubs. The subject for the meeting is "Instruments of Percussion.” Mrs. John R. Craig, chairman of the study course, will give a talk on the history and development of these instruments. A complete display of modem and antique instruments, including the new vibraphone, will be furnished by the Rinne Music Company, and Herman Rinne will explain and illustrate with solos the properties and use of each instrument. He will play a group of marimba selections, accompanied by Mrs. Luther Shirley. Harold Winslow, director, will hold a rehearsal of the section chorus at 3. New Officers of Pan-Hellenic Body Installed The Indianapolis Pan-Hellenic association held its annual fall luncheon and installation of officers today at the Columbiaa Club. Club Observes President’s Day With Luncheon The thirty-ninth annual President’s day observance by members of Over the Tea Cups Club w'as held at the Propylaeum Friday. Luncheon was served at 1. Covers were laid for twenty-four members at a table centered with a bowl of white flowers and lighted with green tapers, carrying out the club colors. Miniature houses were used for place cards to illustrate the subject of the toasts “The House of Life.” Mrs. E. R.
