LESLIE HITCHES HOPE ON TO TAIL OF HOOVER KITE Emphasizes Allegiance to Secretary’s Views; Scores Dailey. *

Ry Times Special LOGANSPORT, Ind., Oct. 12. Resuming efforts to cement his candidacy to that of Herbert Hoover, Harry G. Leslie, Republican nominee for Governor, closed a tour of Cass County with an address here Thursday night. Recognizing that his hope of election depends on Hoover’s ability to pile up a large majority in the State, Leslie divided his time between a bitter personal attack on his opponent, Frank C. Dailey, and professions of allegiance to Hoover on questions of national rather than State interest. “Stands With Hoover” “I am proud to stand with Hoover against the repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment,” said Leslie, seeking to cause Dailey embarrassment for Governor Smith’s personal views on modification. “I stand with Hoover for the enforcement of the Constitution and all laws enacted pursuant thereto,” Leslie added, predicting that the cabinet member would attain a majority of from 220,000 to 300,000 in Indiana. Again he attacked Dailey for being a member of a law firm which has represented utilities before the public service commission. “It would be bad business and against public policy to put this utility lawyer or any other of his stripe in the Governor’s office where he would name the public service commissioners and the tax commissioners, and select judges where vacancies might occur,” Leslie asserted.. Frederick K. Landis, Logansport, who denounced in his primary campaign for the gubernatorial nomination and was defeated by Leslie in the convention, did not attend the meeting. Landis persistently has refused to participate in the campaign. SALVAGED SILVERWARE GIVEN TO CHARITIES Fortune in Unclaimed Silver Taken From Garbage. Organizations supported by the Community Fund will receive about 6,000 pieces of unclaimed silver from the city sanitary board. The silverware will be pro-rated to charity organizations operating dining rooms, on the basis of the amount received from the fund. “The board decided the Community Fund could make better use of the silverware than any one else. There is almost a truck load of unclaimed silver accumulated from the garbage collected by the city,” said O. C. Ross, sanitary board president. Floyd Baber, garbage plant superintendent, has charge of the distribution. PRESS LIQUOR CHARGES AGAINST YALE SENIORS Arrested for Assault, Will Be Tried for Intoxication. By United Press CHAMBERSBURG, Pa., Oct. 12. Two Yale seniors, convicted Thursday of simple assault, and acquitted of charges of assault with intent to rob, and impersonating an officer, today faced additional charges. The students, Alexander Knapp of Baltimore, and Sydney R. Prince, Jr., of Washington, were arrested on suspicion that they tried to hold up a grocer. They said they were intoxicated at the time, and thinking the man they held up was a rum runner, stopped him to buy some liquor. Prince will have to stand trial for driving while intoxicated, and Knapp for allowing an intoxicated person to drive his car.
