HIT-BUN DRIVER KILLSJfOMAN Workman Is Electrocuted While Repairing Oven. Two persons died violent deaths in Indianapolis Wednesday night, one the victim of a hit-and-run driver and the othef of electrocution. Mrs. Lola Hess, 50, of 329 N. Illinois St., died in St. Vincent Hospital a few hours after she had been struck at Thirty-Second and Meridian Sts. by a motor car which sped away after the accident. * George Kraezig, 48, of 1813 S. Talbott St., was electrocuted at the Charles Freihofer Baking Company, 359 E. Merrill St„ while boring holes in a steel oven with an electric drill. Witnesses of the accident in which Mrs. Hess was killed said the driver of the car, a maroon Marmon coupe, carried the woman to'the sidewalk, then leaped into his machine and sped away. Mrs. Hess is survived ; by her husband, Harry Hess, and a daughter. A short circuited wire was blamed for Kraezig’s death. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Catherine Kraezig, and five children. Four other persons were hurt in traffic accidents Tuesday night, one of them, John Doyle, 5, 2401 Kenwood Ave., who was struck by a truck near his home. He suffered a broken thumb and severe bruises. TROLLEY EARNINGS OFF Although gross earnings of the Indianapolis Street Railway decreased in August of This year as compared with 1927, net earnings increased from $85,983.96 to $95,628.22, according to the monthly report filed with the public service ccmmi^ion. The 1928 gross earnings for August was $393,900.80. In 1927 it was $4,12,301.65. Operating expenses decreased from $326,317.69 to $298,272.58. Taxes decreased from $27,- , 674.07 to $26,302.98. Deductions for interest on bonds increased from $53,261.79 to $55,$22.14 and for sinking funds from $13,016.66 to $13,266.66. ROUND UP RELIEF FUNDS An appeal to churches and other organizations which have taken collections for the Florida and West Indies hurricane relief fund to forward checks to Red Cross headquarters at once was made today by the special relief fund committee.
