CROP ESTIMATE SENDS CORN UP, WHEATLOWER Oats, Unaffected by Report, Ranges Steady to Lower in Sympathy. Bn United Press CHICAGO, Oct. 10.—Bearish sentiment induced by the Government crop report for October forced wheat lower on the Board of Trade today. Corn bulls were encouraged by the corn crop estimate. Oats were slightly lower in sympathy with wheat. At the opening wheat was % to % cent''lower. Corn was up % to V* cent, and oats were off % cent. Provisions continued to decline. The Government report placed the total wheat crop at 904,000,000 bushels, an increase of 3,000,000 bushels over the Setpember estimate. This figure, together with the record-breaking receipts in Canada, caused general pessimism in the trade. Liverpool showed considerable weakness today, due presumably to the Government figures. The report on corn reduced the previous estimate by 28,000,000 bushels, but the total crop was placed 129,000,000 bushels above that of last year. New corn is moving in the West and Southwest, but receipts are expected to continue small for several weks. Oats were not affected by the report, as the estimate did not differ from previous figures. In the Stock Market

(By Thompson A McKinnon) NEW YORK, Oct. 10.—If it were necessary for us to concern ourselves with the conditions and prospects of business when dealing in the stock market, then our problem would be simple. Unfortunately, this is not the case. There are numerous other iactors, vital ones, one of which is what we think to be an overbought market. The more acute this situation becomes, the greater is the danger. We believe we have reached a point where this question, rather than anything also pertaining to the present situation is most important. We think it would be better to follow the conservative course. There is nothing in the situation justifying undue optimism. 126 111 in Typhoid Epidemic OLEAN, N. Y„ Oct. 10.—A typhoid fever epidemic which has swept this city for the last twelve ddays, in which 126 positive cases were reported and sixty suspected ones under observation, has reached its peak, it was indicated here today by Dr. B.
