CITY INSURANCE RATE HINGES ON AUTO DRIVE Voshell Urges Efforts to Cut 10-Year Average; Campaign Planned. Every effort to reduce fire losses should be made if Indianapolis hopes for a favorable showing in the ten-year period survey in 1933. This plea was made today by Fire Chief Harry E. Voshell, who is planning a fire prevention celebration next week in accordance with the nation-wide observance. The National Board of Fire Underwriters uses the suiwey in determining fire insurance rates. Fire Losses Gain “Now is the tipie to think about cutting our ten-year average. A good showing can be made by exercising caution throughout the entire period. Indianapolis should be proud of its record in the past, but we are not willing to stop at the present rate,” Voshell said. Fire losses in the United States have shown steady gain since 1903, jumping from $145,000,000 in 1903 to $535,000,000 in 1923. Voshell asked the entire citizen- | ship to cooperate in observance of ! fire prevention the year-round. More than 1,500 reservations have been made for the venison dinner of the sixth annual convention of the Indiana Izaak Walton League, to be held at Shrine Temple, Ft. Wayne, the night ■of Oct. 18, Charles L. Biederwolf, Supreme Court clerk and president)- of the State organization, announced today. The convention will be two days, starting Oct. 18. Former Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis, big league baseball czar, is to be the banquet speaker. During the afternoon, at the sessions at the Anthony Hotel, Dr. Henry Beecher Ward, president of the national organization of the Izaak Walton League and member of the University of Illinois faculty, will speak.
