STUDY CHANCES OPEN TO STATE RADIOJSNGERS Atwater Kent Contests Now Under Way to Find New Talent. The Atwater Kent audition for young singers already is under way in a number of Indiana cities. The second annual audition to discover new talent will be in charge of Mrs. Frank B. Hunter, well-known Indianapolis singer. Mrs. Hunter has formed a State audition committee of nineteen to direct Indiana’s search for its promising young singers and to nominate them for awards of $17,500 in cash and music conservatory scholarships which the Atwater Kent foundation offers to audition winners. The cities already planning contests, and their chairman are: Indianapolis, Mrs. Frank B. Hunter, 4834 N. Illinois St.; Ft. Wayne, Oswald Jones, 4538 S. Ca.lhoun; Petersburg, Mrs. Owen Harris: RushVille, Mrs. Edith B. Ashworth; Marion, Miss Alma Patton; Columbus, Mrs. H. Lee Bassett, and Connersville, Prof. Albert A. Glockzin. Other Hoosier cities having deserving voices will be invited to hold local auditions. Winners of the local contests—a boy and girl from each—will compete in the all-In-diana audition, which will be broadcast from Indianapolis over WKBF, with Carl B. Watson, State audition manager, presiding. Indiana State winners will receive silver medals and will go to Chicago, as guests of the Atwater Kent Foundation, to compete with other mid-western State champions in the mid-west district audition. District audition winners will compete in the finals at New York, for the national awards, the highest being $5,000 in cash, two years’ conservatory training and the foundation sponsorship in preparation for an operatic or radio debut. Those desiring to enter the contest should get in touch with Carl B. Watson, WKBF, Hoosier Athletic Club, Indianapolis, for full details.
