WARN SUMMER WORST TYPHOID FEVER REASON Simple Precautions Urged as Guard Against Disease. By United Press WASHINGTON, Aug. 24.—Typhoid fever may occur at any time during the year, but it is most prevalent in the United States in the late summer and during the autumn months, a warning issued by the United States Public Health Service said. Typhoid fever germs are taken into the body through the mouth with food or drink, or by means of direct infection with flies. Among foods other than milk that are most likely to be exposed to infection and liable to convey typhoid fever are those eaten raw or uncooked. Well-cooked food or proppasteurized or boiled milk are sair >Jom the danger of conveying the disease, it was said. “The pasteurization, or the boiling for a few minutes, of milk and the boiling of water when it is of doubtful purity, will remove all danger from typhoid fever and other waterborne diseases,” the bureau stated. "The necessity of inoculation against typhoid should be emphasized at this period of the year. It is especially important that the inocluation be done before the vacation period begins, This is particularly necessary today when so many people go on automobile trips through the country, often visiting out-of-the-way places, where due precautions in regard to infection are neglected.” The report stated that “It is an established fact that a person can be rendered comparatively safe from the disease by inoculation,” and that the duration of such immunity is about three years. Aug. 24.—For having his neighbor, Mrs. Della Hehir, arrested because she played a phonograph at midnight, Councilman Joe Ferguson may face a damage suit for false imprisonment. Taken to police headquarters, Mrs. Hehir was advised by prosecuting officials that there was no charge against her and that Ferguson’s accusation was one for which there is no basis in law. Ferguson obtained a warrant after Mrs. Ferguson stopped the phonograph at request of a policeman sent by the councilman, but started it again when she said coughing by Ferguson disturbed her.

CITY BUILDERS TO HOLD PICNIC Congress Arranges Outing at Noblesville. Golf, swimming, tennis and other sports, with prizes, are on the program for the first outing of the newly organized Indianapolis Building Congress. The outing is sched-' uled for Sept. 6 at Forest Park, Noblesville, Ind. It is to be a stag affair, with an opportunity for members and their friends to get ‘together, the committee in charge announced. The congress has been organized to foster better building in the city, with the idea of community benefit. It has attracted to its ranks many of the leaders in architectural, financing, labor and construction lines. Those desiring to compete in the eighteen-hole golf tournament should submit their entry to the program committee by Sept. 1.
