MICHIGAN CITY STATE ROAD IS NOWJMARKED Highway From Lafayette in Fair Shape; Open Rogers Bridge. Marking of State Rd. 43, between Lafayette and Michigan City, has [been completed, according to the weekly bulletin of the State highway department, issued today. Guide and warning signs have been put into position and maintenance of the stretch has started. The road soon will be in first-class shape and is fair now, according to John D. Williams, director of the department. Williams called attention in the bulletin to the opening of the new bridge at Rogers on State Rd. 57. This eliminates the ferry across White River and two miles of earth road across the river bottoms betreen Rogers and Sandy Hook. The road to the bridge is on relocation. The new road and bridge assures year-round use of the road, which formerly used to be impassable during high water season, Williams said. General road conditions listed in the bulletin are as follows: Road 2—Detour from Illinois line to Road 41. Road 3-—Detour two miles north of Muncie to Hartford City. Detour from Petroleum to Bluffton. Road 9—Drive slowly past construction work between Marion and Huntington. Road 16—Bridge run-around two and one-half miles south of La Fountalne. Detour at La Fountalne. United States Road 24—Bridge runaround two miles west of Goodland. Detour from three miles east of Montlcelio to Idaville. Detour from Burnettsville. United States Road 27—Detour two miles south of Richmond. Detour from Richmond to Chester. Bridge run-around two miles north of Richmond. Detour from Fountain City to Winchester is nineteen miles. Detour one-half mile west of Berne to one mile south of Monroe. Detour from seven miles north of Decatur to Ft. Wayne is seventeen miles. Road 29—Detour five miles south of Road 32 is two miles. Detour at intersection of Road 32 is four miles. Bridge runarounds at Beardstown. Detour from two miles north of La Porte to Junction of Road 20 is two and one-half miles. U. S. Road 30—Run-around at Erie Railroad crossing two miles east of Schererville. Nine miles of old gravel road from Hanna to State Road 29 is in poor condition. Detour from Plymouth cast is one and one-half miles. Bridge .run-arounds sixteen and seventeen miles southeast of Ft. Wayne. Heavy traffic use marked detour which is five miles. U. S. Road 31—One-way traffic south of Kokomo. Detour just north of Peru is three miles. (Road is open to Sunday traffic only.) Road 34—Detour frpm Veedersburg to Road 41. Detour between Road 41 end Crawfordsville changes as surface treatin gprogresses. Detour from Crawfordsville to New Ross is fourteen miles, eight of which is pavement. Road 37—Detour from Paoli to one and one-half miles north of Orleans. U. S. Road 40—Bridge run-around at Stilesville. Detour east of Pennvil'e is four miles long for cast-bound traffic and six miles long for west-bound traffic. U. S. Road 41—Detour at junction of Road 34. Detour from one-half mile north of Attica to carbondale is nine miles. Bridge run-around two miles north of Kentland. Detour from two and one-half mlies north of Kentland to Ade is ten miles. Road 50—Bridge run-around just west of Seymour. Detour from Junction of Road 1 and 50 and via Milan and Mooreshill to Aurora is twenty-two miles. U. S. Road 52—Detour in West Lafayette. Detour from four miles southeast of Rushville to Andersonville is nine miles. Detour from Brookville to State line at -West Harrison is eighteen and one-half mlies in Indiana and three and one-half

Road 53—Three miles west of French Lick is one-way traffic, ten-mile speed limit. Detour .from West Baden to Paoli is five miles. One way traffic five miles east of Paoli, ten miles speed limit. Bridge run-around eight miles east of Paoli. Earth surfaces oetween Salem and Scottsburg is impassable most of time. Bridge run-arounds four and four and five tenths miles west of Madison. Detour two miles west of Vevay is two and onehalf miles. Road 62—Detour from Corydon to New Albany for construction is via Palmyra over roads 35 and 150 is thirty-three and one-half miles. (Heavy construction between St. Croix and Sulphur is being done under traffic—ten-mile speed limit.) Road 68—Detour from two miles east of Evansville to Newburg is eight and onehalf miles. Impassable between Newburg and Hatfield with no detour. Through traffic avoid Road 66 and route via Roads 15 and 62 until further notice. Road 67—Detour one ano. one-naif miles east of Vincennes to is fifteen and one-half miles. (Only one mile further than regular route.) U. 3.
