LOUIS, June 21—Heavy rainfall, which in some parts of eastern Missouri assumed cloudburst proportion, has sent several streams over their banks and caused many thousands of dollars’ damage to crops. The Mississippi River was reported to be rising at the rate of or.e foot per hour near Mokane, Mo. Residents of the vicinity were preparing to move out. One-third of Mokane is flooded from smaller streams in the district, but these streams were reported subsiding today. Two men were injured near Fulton, Mo., when their automobile crashed into a flooded ravine where water- had removed forty feet of concrete from the highway. The rain in Fulton was reported to be the heaviest since 1872. Skies Clearing; Hotter Bn United Press KANSAS CITY. Mo., June 21. The capricious variety of weather which has been served up to the Southwest the past week today apparently had been superceded by clearing skies and extremely high temperatures. Weather forecasters for the district reported the period of tornadoes, hailstorms and severe winds ’probably was over for a time ana that uniform summer heat would set in. Weather observers reported the period of tornadoes, floods and hailstorms had been the most prolonged in the history of the southwest.

REPLY to trust suit city Film Board Joins Others Answering U. S. The Indianapolis Film Board of Trade today joined thirty-one other similar organizations in filing an answer in the New York Federal Court denying violation of the Sherman anti-trust act in use of the arbitration system in settling contract disputes. The suit charging violation of the act was filed recently by the Government. It is alleged the film boards of trade forced new owners of motion picture theaters to take over film contracts entered into by former managements. The film boarus asserted in the answer that because of the perishable quality of films, settlement of such disputes in courts would bring about long delays and losses.
