PLAN TO TRAIN CITY AND STATE FIRELIGHTERS Local Group to Survey Illinois Plan for Pattern Here. Inauguration of a firemen’s training school and fire college here for the systematic training of all fire fighting forces in the State is under consideration by officials of the State fire marshal’s office, the Indianapolis fire department and the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce fire prevention bureau. To get first hand knowledge of the school successfully operated at Illinois University, a delegation of interested Indiana officials will visit and inspect the school at Urbana, 111., next week. In the party leaving Tuesday will be Cash Graham, chief inspector and G. H. See, chief clerk, from the fire marshal’s office; John J O’Brien, battalion chief in charge of drills, city fire department; W. J. Kern, superintendent of the Indianapolis Salvage Corps; and Frank S. Jordan, secretary and assistant treasurer of the Indianapolis Water Company, who will represent the Chamber of Commerce fire prevention committee. Cooperation of Purdue University will be sought if the firemen’s training school project is adopted in this State, Fire Marshal Alfred E. Hogstaon indicated. Fire engineers of national prominence would be brought here to assist in the instruction. Firemen from other Indiana cities and towns would be brought in groups to Indianapolis for two or three week periods, housed at the fire stations where adequate sleeping facilities are said to be available and after class room instruction and drills would be allotted for short periods
