Says Specialist. 3ii Science Service , MINNEAPOLIS, June B.—Mental patients occupy as many beds in American hospitals as all the patients with physical diseases put together, and it is high time that specialists in mental and nervous diseases should organize for strength in shouldering the growing burdens that the public is putting on Hheir shoulders. This situation was presented to the American Psychiatric Association this morning by Dr. Ross McC. Chapman, superintendent of the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital in Maryland. , “Why are there too few psychiatrists?” Dr. Chapman asked. “Why are courses of study in our medical colleges so arranged that psychiatry is not presented to the student in a w r ay to attract him?
