SEEKS TAST’ TIME Circulate Petition for Change in Capital. Henry Roberts, 'State sales agent, is circulating petitions in the Statehouse calling up Governor Ed Jackson to issue an order placing all State offices on the daylight saving time in conformity with Indianapolis time. At a meeting a week ago of department heads it was voted to continue on central standard time. Roberts at that meeting protested that “even the birds in the trees keep daylight saving time." At the same time Marion County commissioners have determined to continue the court house on standard time. This creates a condition of two times at the courthouse, daylight saving by which the courts are operated and standard for the remainder of the offices. interest among women through organized campaigns to educate them in a still new role, directed chiefly by the National League of Women Voters. Not only will there be a large number of women sitting in the conventions as delegates and alternates to swing methodically the customary palm-leaf fan, but there will be groups working actively behind the scenes with the platform committee for feminist declarations in party platforms—some of them at cross-purposes. Though complete tabulations have not been made, it is estimated at headquarters here that some 400 women will sit in the Republican convention at Kansas City as delegates or alternates, and some 500 at the Democratic convention at Houston, about a fifth or sixth of the total number of delegates and alternates.
