Millions of Families Depend on Dr. Caldwell’s Prescription
When Dr. Caldwell started to practice medicine, back in 1875, the needs for a laxative were not as great as they are today. People lived normal, quiet lives, ate plain wholesome food, and got plenty of fresh air and sunshine. But even that early there were drastic physics and purges for the relief of constipation which Dr. Caldwell did not believe were good for human beings to put into their system. So he wrote a prescription for a laxative to be used by his patients. The prescription for constipation that he used early in his practice, and which he put in drug stores in 1892 under the name of Dr. Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin, is a liquid vegetable remedy, intended for women, children and elderly people, and they need just such a mild, safe, gentle bowel stimulant as Syrup Pepsin. Under successful management this prescription has proven its worth and is now the largest selling liquid laxative in the world. The fact that millions of bottles are used a year proves that it has won the confidence of people who needed it to get relief from headaches, biliousness, flatulence, indigestion, loss of appetite and sleep, bad breath, dyspepsia, colds and fevers. Millions of families are now never without Dr. Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin, and if you will once start using it you will also have a bottle handy

SEEK SECRECY ON INCOME TAX Fight Impends in Senate on Publicity Clause. By United Press WASHINGTON, May 25.—A fight to keep income tax returns out of the newspapers and other public places was scheduled to take place in the Senate today if the Muscle Shoals filibuster ended in time. Senator Smoot (Rep.), Utah, planned to ask the Senate to rescind its action in adopting a drastic complete publicity amendment to the tax reduction bill, revenue and administrative features of which were agreed upon late yesterday by Senate and House conferees. The bill in its present form, carrying a flat 12 per cent corporation tax rate and a total reduction of $223,495,000, is expected to be adopted by both houses and signed by President Coolidge. If the Senate refuses to kill the publicity provision, this matter will be taken up again by the conferees. EXHUME BODY OF GIRL Investigation Today at Marion to Determine Poison Plot. INSURANCE FOR COUNTY SOUGHT Auditor Plans to Build Up Reserve Fund. Effort to prevent recurrence of the present situation of insurance on county buildings expiring, leaving the county virtually without protection, is being made by County Auditor Harry Dunn. Dunn, in his early preparation of a budget for next year, is attempting to find a place where he can put a one-quarter or one-half cent item for reserve, for use in such cases as the present, when insurance items are stricken out. At present county property valued at $3,500,000 is covered by insurance totaling only about $500,000, and more is expiring monthly. The situation arose when the
county council struck out numerous small items for insurance in the individual budgets of county institutions. Hardest hit were Sunnyside Tuberculosis Sanitarium and the county poor farm. There is no likelihood that additional appropriations will pass the council this year, to reinstate any of the expiring policies. 5-DAY WEEK ADOPTED BY MAGAZINE COMPANY Employes of Macfadden Will Enjoy Long Week-Ends. By Times Special NEW YORK, May 25.—A five-day week during the next six months has been established by the Macfadden Publications, applying to its 500 employees in the general offices of the corporation at 1926 Broadway, New York. The plan, which took effect April 21, and which will run continuously up to and including Oct. 21, 1928, will release the employees for the enjoyment of a full Saturday-Sunday week-end. It
is expected that this extra time for recreational activities will be reflected in increased efficiency throughout the entire year. The Macfadden Publications are one of the pioneers in adopting this plan. The founder of the Salvation Army was Gen. William Booth, an English clergyman.
