CONGRESS MAY ADJOURNEARLY May 26 Favored by Some; Big Bills Pend. B]l Time* Special WASHINGTON, May 21.—Congress will adjourn on May 2<5, if House and Senate leaders can get sufficient votes in the face of legislation that is yet unfinished. Both Senator Curtis and Tilson are known to favor this date. Senator Johnson of California is ready to oppose it unless the Boulder Dam bill can be disposed of next week, which is almost an impossibility, according to its opponents. Farm relief advocates say they do not intend to let Congress adjourn until at least one house has had a chance to determine whether the McNary-Haugen bill can be passed over the President’s expected veto. Those favoring Government operation of Muscle Shoals want that bill brought out of conference and acted upon. Numerous bills of lesser importance are still awaiting action, but these can £e carried over until December. DEUSENBERG ELECTED Indiana Engineers Name City Man President. Fred Deusenberg, of the Deusenberg Motor Car Company, Indianapolis, was chosen president of the Indiana section of the Society of Automotive Engineers at a meeting Saturday at Lafayette, Ind! George H. Freers, of the Marmon. Motor Company, president last year, became vice president as provided by the rules. H. P, Lewis of the Marmon company, was chosen secretary, and Charles Trask of the Rackwood Manufacturing Company, Indianapolis, treasurer. One hundred and fifty engineers from the State attended. Notes City Building Change Bn Times Special BEDFORD, Ind., May 21.—Metropolitan America is expanding more systematically and more economically than it did a few years ago, according to a statement by the Indiana Limestone Company here. “Wfm j American city continues to expand, comprel isive community surveys are replacing the old booster methods,” it is declared. ' ‘ More discrimination is being shown in its development. Recreation and i education, housing and health, sani- j tation and paving are being more j closely related to each other.” Death Notices BIDDLE. MRS.
