NO HOPE FOR i RiTOHiE's View Maryland Governor Faces Senate Committee Quiz; Reed Is Next. BY PAUL R. MALLON Up i ted Press Staff Correspondent BALTIMORE, May 8. —Governoi' Albert C. Ritchie of Maryland told the Senate campaign investigating committee today that he does not expect to win the Democratic presidential nomination and will do nothing to get it. “I would be delighted if it came my way, although I do not expect it to, Ritchie said in a ten-minute hearing held in his business office •on the tenth floor of a bank building here. Ritchie had notified the committee that he has made xxo campaign and has raised no money, but the committee wanted to ask him particularly if he had any arrangement | with Governor A! Smith regarding : disposition ox the Maryland dele- 1 gates.

After Ritchies testimony, the committee returned to Washington this afternoon to hear Senator James A Reed of Missouri. Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover is to be questioned in Washington tomorrow. Governor Al Smith will be requested to appear Thursday before the committee in I New York, if the time and place are suitable. Former Governor Lowden of Illinois probably will be requested to come here to testify next Monday. Senator Watson of Indiana will be heai-d as soon as he returns from Indiana, probably Friday. o antes R. Good, director of the •local Hoover-for-President Club and Ed S. Members of the Methodist Episcopal conference committee on the state of church here have gone on record as opposing a large navy building program'. It is their belief that disarmament is one of the most effective methods of preserving world peace. After a heated debate, the committee, by a vote of 105 to 9, adopted a resolution protesting a pending congressional measure providing for an extensive building program for the navy.
