LA PORTE ROAD PAVINO PROJECT OPENEDTO OSE Much Repair, Improvement Work Gets Under Way in Indiana. A short section of 1928 pavement has already gone into use on U. S. Highway 20, the weekly traffic bulletin of the State highway department announced today. This is at Rolling Prairie in La Porte County where the department has completed pavement at a railroad viaduct. The bulletin cited removal of a bridge run-around east of Shannondale on Rd. 32, anew bridge having gone into service during the week. A short detour went effect on Rd. 34, four and one-half miles west of Veedersburg to permit new paving. Great activity prevails throughout the system, many c ontracts getting under way that, have been delayed due to the late spring, Director John D. Williams announced. General road conditions were listed as follows: Rd. 2—Short detour at west city limits of Lowell. Rd. 3—Detour around grading three miles north of Muncie. Rd. 7—One-way traffic bridges eight and ten miles north of Madison and bridge run-around six one one-half miles north of Madison. Rd. 9 —New gravel approaches to bridge at Mt. Etna are open to light traffic only; heavy traffic use marked run-around. Rd. 10—Three and one-half mile detour at Culver. U. S. Rd. 20—Detour from four and onehalf miles west of La Grange to Steuben County line. Bridge run-around at Plato. Detour In Elkhart while city is making Improvements. u. S. Rd. 24—Detour just east of Huntington U. S. Rd. 27—Detour north from Liberty. Bridge run-arcund three miles north of Richmond. Detour from Fountain City to Winchester Detour one-half mile west of Berne to one miles south of Monroe. Detour one and one-half miles north of Angola to tw and one-half miles south of Michigan line. Entrance to State park is ©pen from the north. Rd. 28—Bridge run-around at Tippecanoe and Clinton County line. Rd. 29—Detour just south of Greensburg for construction. Fair local detour. Good three-mile detour t\7o miies north of Burlington. Detour from two miles north of La Porte to junction of Rd. 20. U. S. Rd. 30 —Detour two and one-half miles west of Ohio line to seven and onehalf miles southeast of New Haven for construction of three bridges. Portion of detour is narrow. Short detour in Plymouth. One-fourth mile run-around at Erie R. R. crossing tw s o miles east of Schererville. O. S. Rd. 31—Run-around eleven miles north of Kokomo. Bridge run-around one mi> north of Peru. Rd. 32—Bridge run-around one and onehalf miles west of junction of 29. Detour around bridge construction one and onehalf miles west of Noblesville. Rd. 34—Short detour four and one-half miels west of .Veedersburg. Detour .from Jamestown and Lizton. Detour between Pittsborro and Brownsburg. Through traffic between Indianapolis and Crawfordsvllle should use Rds. 52 and 32 via Lebanon. Rd. 35—Narrow between Corydon and Palmyra. U. S. Rd. 36—Short detour at Abner’s Creek east of Danville. Rd. 37—Drive slow south of Grantsburg, account of earth slides. U. S. Rd. 41—Bridge run-around just south of Lyford. Detour between Attica and Boswell. Bridge run-around two and one-half miles north of Kentland. Detour St. John to Dyer. Rd. 45—Closed for construction between Gentryville and Dale; detour via Santa Claus. Widening road between Dale and Huntingburg; traffic drive carefull#. Rd. 46—Narrow approaches to bridge three and one-half miles east of Nashville. Rd. 50—Bridge run-around four miles
