Wash rice and cook in plenty of salted water until tender; drain and blanch with cold water. Put layer of rice in buttered baking dish and cover with chopped fruit. Roll or crush the graham crackers. Cream the butter and sugar and then add the beaten eggs. Add the graham crumbs and milk alternately and lastly the baking powder and nuts if used. FALL OF AMERICAN CIVILIZATION IS SEEN Sociology Professor Claims Material Advance Too Fast, NEW ORLEANS, April 27.—The fall of American civilization similar to that of the ancient Roman Empire—as the result of increasing materialism in this country—was declared by Dr. Jesse Steiner, professor of sociology at Tulane University, in a talk before the New Orleans Vocational and Educational Guidance Association. “I say that our material civilization has made wonderful strides,” said Dr. Steiner. ‘‘The rush and struggle for wealth has been increased and in that rush we have failed to offset the conditions brought about by it. “Our spiritual and religious values need raising to meet this mechanical growth. There is not enough interest in churches,” continued the professor. POSH INDUSTRY PLAN Group Named to Draw Up Corporation Papers. A committee of nine to organize the Indianapolis Industrial Corporation and to draw up plans and incorporation papers, was named Thursday. This is the first concrete step taken to formulate the foundation, which is planned to have $1,000,000 capitalization to aid in starting ne industries here. The committee was named by members of the executive committee of the foundation movement headed by Hugh MacK. Landon.
