PROTEST STATE FREIGHT RATES ON IRON, STEEL State May Lose Industries if Chaotic Conditions Continue. Bl' CHARLES CARLE Intrastate freight rates that have! a decided bearing on activities of firms within the State, also are being objected to, in many instances t'o as great an extent as the interstate rate schedules. These cases are prosecuted before the State public service commission. Within the las. few months the commission has passed on charges of unreasonable intrastate rates on iron and steel articles. This case was brought by the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce against sev-! eral railroads acting as carriers of j iron and steel articles. State May Lose Industries Iron and steel articles refer generally to bars, plates, sheets, rods, bands, etc., commonly classed as merchant iron and steel and angles, j channels, tees, sees and structural shapes known as structural iron and steel and railway car material, fencing and wire. Sheriff Jacob Campbell considered braving the ram, and then changed his mind, deciding that buying maple syrup would be better.
