MEND STREETS IN PREPARATION FOR RAGE DAY City Traffic Arteries Being Patched, Repaired for Crowds May 30. Five crews of workmen are busy putting Indianapolis thoroughfares in condition for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway crowd on Decoration day. The force, under Street Repair Superintendent Edward Rochat, has been busy for three weeks since the advent of good weather. Illinois St. from the east to west boundaries of the city has been patched. The downtown district is in good condition for summer traffic. The seventy-five men will be augmented with three gangs of fifty more men about May 1. Repair of cross streets will be started as soon as main traffic arteries are in shape, Rochat said. Workmen will begin in a few days to patch Indiana Ave. to Montcalm St., Kentucky Ave. to the city limits

VERNON, Ind., April 13—A suit which has been in five courts has been settled in Posey Circuit Court here with a judgment of $1 to the plaintiff, Julia Gottman, Evansville, against George Gamble, Negro, for possession of property and damages. Originally filed before Justice of the Peace Baker at Evansville, the case on changes of venue and other proceedings was successively before Justice of the Peace Folz and the Vanderburg, Warrick and Posey Circuit Mourts.

Threatens Suit

Declaring her mother-in-law, Mrs. James B. Duke, widow of the tobacco magnate, alienated the affections of her husband, Walker P. Inman, Mrs. Helene Patton Clarke Inman has threatened to file suit against the $100,000,000 widow. Mrs. Inman said she was driven into signing an agreement to divorce Inman for $75,000.
