CITY CHURCHES ARRANGE ELABORATE EASTER PROGRAMS

Protestant and Catholic Churches Make Elaborate Plans for Sacred Services; Many Sunrise Meetings f to Be Held by Congregations, NE\ ER in the history of Indianapolis have such beautiful musical programs been arranged by the choir directors for Easter Sunday as those announced for tomorrow. Many of the churches will start the Easter observances with sunrise prayer meetings followed by musical programs. Easter Sunday will be observed at Broadway Methodist Episcopal Church on Fall Creek Bird, beginning with a sunrise

service at 7. led by Miss Alpha Joslin, fourth vice president of the Epworth League. Following service, breakfast will be served In tire community room. “The Immortal Hope" will be the sermon subject of the pastor, the Kev. John W. McFall, D. D., at the

mqyning worship. 10:43. The three B r o a dway choirs, junior, high school and adult, totaling 150 voices, and all vested will sing Easter anthems at the morning service, and special Easter music will be played on the Estey four-manual organ by Mrs. Mary

E. Wilhite. The combined choirs will be under direction of Willard Elman Beck.

Sunday evening the Epworth League will present the last two episodes of “Dr. Bryce's Treasure Hunt” at the social hour, 5:30, and at the devotional service a special Easter service will be observed. At 7:30 the vested choir of sixtyfive voices will sing the Cantata, “Eastertide,” by Daniel Protheros. Tuesday evening the Win-Mor-Honr-Builders' class of the Sunday School will hold its regular dinner in the Community Room. Election of officers wil be held. Thursday the Northwestern branch of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society will meet at the i church for a two-day convention, lasting until Friday afternoon. Departmental meetings will be conducted at 2 p. m. Friday, and the convention proper will begin at 3 o'clock. The church dinner will be served at 6. At 7:30 p. m. Bishop Frederick D. Leete, D. D„ LL.D. and Miss Charlotta Hoffman of Roorkie, India, will speak. Hiss Hoffman’s address will be, “My Mother India,” and will be of special interest, because of the recent book of that name. Friday morning at 9:30 the fol-' lowing speakers will be included on the program: Mrs. J, N. Peed, secretary of the Northwestern branch; Mrs. C. R. Timmons, superintendent of Young People's work; Mrs, R. E. Clark, Mrs. E. L. Sinclair, Mrs. F. A. Waterman. At 1:30 p. m. the closing address wall be given by Bishop George R. Groce of the Methodist Episcopal Church, recently returned from Pekin, China. Among the noted missionaries who will be present will be Dr. Rebecca Parish and Miss Estelle Forsythe. Luncheon will be served Friday in the Community Room. Mrs. Austin T. Webb, president of the branch, will preside. Friday at 8 p. m. the north subdistrict of the Epworth League will hold a get-together party in the Community Room of Broadway Methodist Episcopal Church on Fall Creek Blvd. Lemuel Johnson is president of the sub-district and will be in charge of the party.
